Looking for hexi yurt on playa
Looking for hexi yurt on playa
Hello burners, I'm looking to use a hexiyurt on playa this year. Last year a member of my theme camp picked up their yurt on playa. I was hoping they picked it up from a theme camp where yurts are distributed based on pre registration....but not sure. Also, if yurt renting is available off playa would like to know info. Yurt needs to sleep two. Thanks

Have you considered a tent?

Build it and ship it if you can't transport it yourself.... Speak to your campmate?

Re: Looking for hexi yurt on playa
Do it yourself. You will get so much satisfaction from self reliance.
My daughter and I have built ours 4 times now. We build it by ourselves and only ask for help when it is time to put the roof on (as you need more than 2 people to lift it onto the walls)
It's really not hard at all. When your done you step back and cheer..."YAY look what we did"

Agreed... I build my tent , I do borrow a mallet, and get happy when it's done.

Don't you take it out on me bc you have -40 and I'm relaxing in a nice 11 degree breeze..Rice wrote:sorry!! The word "tent" gave me visions of something factory assembled, that one needed to put up9ah wrote:I build it, dammit... Like Bob. I don't make the materials.![]()

It is factory assembled, but it's been modified, taped over, patched and such. it's kinda like a character from the Nightmare before Christmas. It's better than some tents I've used over the years... You know the ones where the poles aren't attached to their strings and you have to literally build the damned thing from scratch with all the parts in a pile? No? I guess we can call it a prefabed tent that I reconstruct... Folks build yurts but they aren't building the panels.
I like to pull your strings, Rice!

My first playa-tent was held together with duck tape and love. the dam thing needed 24 tent pegs. It did not make it home after my 3rd burn. Once the fly started to go it was done. tried one of those canvas tents (Kodiak I think) for the last burn, wowza - those are awesome!! Completely sealed, no dust.

Re: Looking for hexi yurt on playa
Lmaooo.... Okay, it's almost game time... let me start to get ready.
Oh yes, I have had the privileged to 'squat' in friends tents and the Kodiak is a nice one! (I had to pack my stuff up for the container to be shipped back to NYC so I was homeless one night. Domes are nice options too... Nice, spacey and practically dust-free!
This poking war will make it to the playa.. In dust we trust!

Yep...obvious that i plan to build it. A little research of my own has gotten the answers i was looking for, supplies, layout, materials, etc. Thanks for push to be self reliant
