As far as the trip up to the playa on Sunday goes, I'm afraid I have to back out. My daughter Sadie is leaving for Hawaii on Tuesday. Actually she is moving there and for how long, she's not sure yet.

So after brunch we will be visiting relatives and saying aloha for now. Damn I'm tearing up just writing this now this is a great opportunity for her but I'm going to miss her like crazy...so many mixed emotions for me right now.

She will come back for the burn in August...Ah to be young and free of the things that tie us down again.

On another note:
it's been advised, by several folks, that we call ahead to Bruno's if we are going to stop for food. They don't get that many people at once this time of year.

So, the question is, do we want to stop for food? if so, it might even be nice to tell them what, at least sort of, so they can thaw what they need.

Any thoughts?

The playa might be poor to drive on!! I would hate for anyone to get stuck....

supervisor. She got us a 15 person van, booked
it then told me they are not open Sunday.
Called others but would have to hire a private
driver. Looks like a no go on the van.
Oh well, maybe a day in Reno instead.

Try Harah's and ask for a host.

Tell them that you have a group, and could they recomend a rental company.

I've been trying to figure out how to say this nicely, but really can't. So, here goes.

You guys are way nicer or something than I am. Though I love you all very much, the thought of being stuck in a van with people for a couple hours with no escape hatch gives me the willies. I love to party with all of you, the train sounds like a BLAST, and I'm jealous jealous jealous that I can't afford it. But I think I would be following you in my car on this leg of the trip.

The roving party Saturday nite between the 15th and 17th floor at the Sands is a go for the 17th floor. My suite on the 17th floor will be open to all about 7:30pm. Ygmir, also on the 17th floor, is going to open up his suite as well. Doc can share the room numbers offline or you can PM me. Its BYOB and hopefully some snacks. What's with the 15th floor?

I'm thinking this should be a theme color party so everyone attending from Doc's party group is identifiable (for example, my favs are black, white and red). If that's not possible some playa swag. Any thoughts?

There is also a Facebook page about this event; AMTRAKathon 2013. Hopefully we can get everyone either arriving on the train or meeting at the Sands to check both places for the latest news.
