Losing a job sucks. When that happens,I look upon it as their loss and my gain. This is not a problem, but an opportunity!! (common opportunity - helloooo, I am here!!)
It is a balmy 0F (-20C) outside right now. We had a few days of -40 weather, so this is awesome in comparison
I don't suppose that any of you goofballs live up north, and by north I mean north of Montana??? (and I mean "goofball" in the most loving, sense
)
Anyhow, it looks like my GF might finally make it back to the US this week. 5 months is getting to be too long for us to be in different continents {twitch}

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Yea I felt a bit bad when I retired from my job when everyone or a lot of people anyway are looking and would die for a job. For me, the difference between what my retirement pays and what I would be making is like $300 a month. That's crazy. Sure the total would go up thru the years, but a) not a large percentage B) I'm not fucking working
.... I sort of just do what I want all the time now. It's really strange after waking up (for my last job not my only one) for 30 years and 1 day, 5 days a week without fail, I sort of feel lazy too lolz... Weather: Some people still think that Denver is in the mnts and it snows all winter, It's going to be in the 50's and up to high 60's this week (of course it might snow a foot next week) Ramble Ramble .............cr****

Apparently I thrive on weather extremes... Possibly explains why I love the survival aspects of BMSavannah wrote:Here, too. But it's not quite as cold.
Nothing makes me happier than a bit of snow followed by some cold weather. When we get serious cold, we also get blindingly bright sunlight... It is a good tradeoff.

I like weather variety: (and M.Nature happily provides)
Weather: http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/forecast ... -40&unit=i
Road Conditions: http://hotline.gov.sk.ca/map/en.html
some days, the road conditions are way more important than the temp! If I am driving on the highway for 4+ hours, it sure it nice to know what I'm up against. (I always travel assuming I'lll get stranded somewhere. Never hurts to be prepared

Is that a nickname for any particular local brand?
Because, you know, the whole pilsner thing came from someplace that wasn't Canada at all

Hmmm, I was unaware that there was a Pilsner elsewhere in the world.MisaBlue wrote:Someone talking pilsner to me?trilobyte wrote:Is that a nickname for any particular local brand?

According to the Canadian company - it was first brewed in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada in 1926. The formula may have been "borrowed", not sure.
It would be interesting to compare the tastes of the various versions of Pilsner from around the world...

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I'm sure what they brew was. But the town of Pilsen had a 700 year head start. I can't imagine what kind of swill that was back then, but they've been brewing what we think of as pilsner for over 150 years. Drinks from around the world are always a good idea
Re: The Bar, Volume #4
When I was a young chap in Norway, the "standard" beer was Pils, as in Pilsner. Wimps drank Lager. Brand was not relevant, except for connoisseurs and snobs.

Porters, stouts, ales. Lagers and yes, pilsners, all that top bottom (I am incapable of remembering which is which) fermented stuff, tastes faintly of soap. No thanks.

Even though it was ~35 years ago when I saw it, I always remembered that the Czech guy didn't go to Egypt with Nick Carter with this excuse: They might have decent pilsner there, but they wouldn't know how to pull it.

it got down to 30 here a few days ago I've spent too much time in southern California when I think that's cold...
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
