Hello, my name is Rex. I heard about this place from none other than the burning man website while looking to prepare for the 2013 burn. I have never been so this makes me a virgin. Im going to be asking some questions here on the eplaya so that I dont mess it all up. I dont want to have a camp that blows away. I have been wanting to go for years but never had enough motivation until now and I cant wait to get out there!

Dear Burners
It's been great reading all of your messages and experiences on the board for the last 2 hours. 2013 is looking like our first year at the Playa and we can't wait to come!!
We're from the UK and we're making the trip with 4 other Britains (all newbies too). We're all looking to join a camp and would love to volunteer, and hopefully make your camp, and our camp a very special place.
If anyone has any camp suggestions or would be able to welcome us into theirs that would be amazing.
Much love
Goateenie and Twerky

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi I'm Eric, I have two pet rabbits hence my eplaya name
My first burning man was green man a few years ago, and this year will be my second (ticketing willing). Dragging along my partner this year too for his first time. I live in South Lake Tahoe, CA. If anyone in the area is looking for campmates let me know. I'm building a hexayurt this year, and I'm determined to sleep comfortably during the hottest part of the day. My last trip I wasn't able to stay up all night because I couldn't sleep past 9am in my tent, totally missed out! That and I'm trying to let go more this year.
I'm handy and good with electronics, hopefully my costume and yurt will reflect that this time. yay bm '13!

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi folks, I'm a virgin, first burn ...
I live in south Florida, which means getting there is going to be a bitch!!! But I got my ticket, so the rest is downhill right? Plan "A" is to fly to Vegas, rent an RV split 4 ways, drive 9-10 hours and enjoy. Plan "B" is fly to Reno and do the box-truck thing, but I get the feeling that's for more experienced burners.
I'm a drummer and I'd love to bring a full set, but I'll have to buy some kind of portable percussion.
Cheers!

Just wanting to say hi
This will be my first BM and I'm in research mode so I've been digging through lots of posts/sites. I'm looking to attend some regional get-togethers to meet other burners and figure out the best way to jump in. My birthday is Aug 27th so I'm stoked to be turning 30 on the playa!

Thanks Rice. I live in San Francisco - moved here a little less than a year ago. I've been wanting to go to BM for 3 years but this is the first time the stars aligned and I was able to snag up a ticket.

I didn't know anyone when I decided to go, and only met my first real local burner after a couple months on ePlaya...
Now the fun begins (plan/prepare/anticipate/crave/dream/execute enjoy)!

Hi, my name is Remi and I work in marketing. I heard about burning man through a friend and I wish it would go all year long.
I am very easy going and like to live a natural life, in nature, with natural people. Burning man seems to be the perfect place.
I'm planning to go this year so hopefully I'll meet some of you!
Forgot to mention I am Lebanese:)

Hello everyone
,
My name is Fred, and I am a 22-year-old Swiss math student living in NYC. 2013 will be my first burn (I am going with my virgin roommate), and I can't wait. I've been hesitating for a while, but now is the time.
I've been to a fair amount of festivals back in Europe, but nothing like BM especially when looking at the community aspect. I do a lot of cooking and have some decent masseur experience. I am also quick to adapt and to learn (plus I can speak 5 languages, which ends up being useful). Hopefully that will be useful on the spot and when looking for a camp.
Anyway, I look forward to learn more about myself, you guys and the community.
Cheers

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
You know, you don't have to put your names in quotes. We do know that those are not the names on your birth certificates. I cannot speak for anyone else, but putting them in quotes looks awkward and insincere to me. It's pretty anonymous on here; if you crash and burn you don't ever have to come back, or you don't have to come back under those names--so, have the courage of your convictions and try out your new identity! You have nothing to lose by your yolks!

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hi, I'm "OldDocWilliamson" but as you'll see in my sig, I am not a doctor, it's just a nickname. I hail originally from Canada (kinda allover, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Peachland, Moncton) but last 30 years in Los Angeles and Phoenix. First time burner this year. I've been aware of BM for longer than I can remember, which lately seems to be in the same class as the Ellen Degeneris character in Finding Nemo. Still working on logistics and finances of attending BM 2013, including considering RV rentals, and looking for potential RV-mates to split the costs. So far it's me and my longtime friend from Victoria, British Columbia. (I have sleep apnea so will probably be running a small electric breathing assist device all night, which is not as intrusive as it sounds, but want to do full disclosure before luring otherwise unsuspecting folks.)
I thought, merely abstractly, about a yurt, but seeing someone mention theirs here, Sounds like it could/would be a lot cheaper than the $2500 to $6000 for a motorhome. I suppose I'll have to research that too.
Tips on RV (yes, I've read the RV survival guide) or yurts or anything else will be appreciated.
I'll curb my tendency to blab too much, and shut up now.
Sincerely,

Hi! Santa Gary here. Old man that will be attending first Burning Man in 2013. Photographer by trade, I actually consider myself a retired guy that has to frequently come out of retirement to make a dollar or two. I'll be coming from Alabama so looking for someone to share a trip.
