TCO's and Dusty Swan Lovers--a Question

Post by brigitgoddess » Fri Feb 08, 2013 6:42 pm

Hi folks! We're deep decision-making mode for our Irish pub, the Dusty Swan (year five on the playa!)---and one of the questions that is coming up with fundraising is schwag....

In years past, we've sold t-shirts and mugs with the Dusty Swan logo on them. However--we think that after this many years, we may be hitting a point where everyone that wants one, probably has one (or two, or four).

My question--what sort of schwag, other than t-shirts and mugs/cups/water bottles have you established theme camps found to be a sought after item as a schwag thank you for donating?

Thanks!

Brigit

Think about making unique things and year-specific art, rather than just the basic logo slapped on mass-produced goods. You don't have to get into anything too bizarre - have some of your awesomely creative campmates (or friends of the camp, if nobody's much of a designer) to work up some cool variations of the camp logo that you can use on coaster sets, shot/pint glass sets, etc. Take your cues from bars, pubs, clubs, and beverage brands in Defaultia - many of them do cool limited edition stuff so their loyal followers get something new and different every time.

I think the mugs and tee-shirts should still be offered. My first Ludo mug wondered off one year in the desert and never came back to camp, so I was happy to be able to purchase a new one, and one for my g/f.
Embroidered patches, and necklace size metal pendants are fun schwag.
What other people think about you is none of your business.

Hand-crafted beer with your custom label.
Seriously There are quite a few home-brew burners with some time and skills that would love to have a chance at supplying you with beer.

Yes please please keep your mugs! I have re-taped the handle of mine way past the point of no return  so, yeah I would love the opportunity to get another one.

Shot glasses are nice, too 8) especially if you offer a "skip the line" pour when they find their way into your bar.

In fact, I think it's a real great idea to sound off whenever you see your schwag in BRC. As a random supporter of lots of different projects I value a smiling "thank you" higher than any inanimate object.

Just say no to selling VIP access (ie 'skip the line') in your fundraisers, please.

Oh geez Trilo, is line skipping the same as VIP access? I have never actually seen a line at the Dusty Swan, but you can skip the line at Ice Cubed for a cold beer. Yes we are that cheap...

Thanks for the good ideas, everyone--I think we are going to go with hipflasks with our logo on them--no--no line skipping at the Dusty Swan....but if you buy the flask, we ARE thinking of throwing in a coupon that would let you get it filled once at the pub with Jamison's!! (otherwise, you just get a shot at a time)

See you in the Dust! And watch for our fundraiser! There are a few other thank yous that we are thinking of that you all might like.
