For whatever reason drugs never have and still don't interest me. Consequently, I've never followed or learned drug slang, past through present. I do, however, have a sweet tooth that should qualify me for rehab somewhere. If someone (narc) asked me in the City or on the Playa if I wanted some "candy", I gotta tell you I'd be thinking M&M's or a Butterfinger. Is this dumb farmer at risk of County lockup because no one would ever believe that I thought "candy" was candy? I'm starting to get paranoid, man!

I gotta admit, I am the same way. I can't keep up with drug slang, mostly because of my lack of interest.
Maybe when someone offers you candy on playa, you can say "Man, I would really like a snickers bar right now" and hope they will correct you.
Or just go ahead and ask if it's "Candy Candy or Candy candy"

I see nothing wrong in clarifying about stuff people offer. One night, I was dancing with some of my camp mates and my friend asked if I wanted a drink. I thought he was offering water and said yes. He gave me a water bottle. After gulping down a big drink, I realized it was vodka. Not that I wouldn't drink vodka, but we sure had different definition for drink at that point of time

This is not exactly hard. Just say "No Thank you!" and walk away.

If you treat cops with respect, behave politely, you will have a much more positive experience! I have seen to many people get in great trouble with the law simply because they chose to be idiots...

What is illegal is for you to lie to a cop. However, what is not illegal is for you to not say anything at all to the cop besides what you are legally obligated to (e.g. providing your ID when asked).

The only place a cop is obligated to tell the truth is when providing evidence or giving testimony in a court of law. Likewise, a court of law is the only place you should be divulging any information with regard to your case or any other, and even then only when specifically required to under advice of a lawyer.

I'm sort of clean cut looking and often quiet and observant. I don't have a costume and dress to be comfortable in the climate and I don't think I act "like a burner," although I don't know what that means.

The folks across the road from us this year were gifting candy (the sweet kind) all week. They had a white van with no windows parked near the road with FREE CANDY written all over it with blue tape. Not sure what they called their camp, but we just referred to it as Rape Van camp all week.

I ended up addicted to lemon-heads (a shit-ton of which I'd bought on my way in). Ended up eating and offering them with abandon.

Not reckless abandon tho.... I always offered them with the words "I promise and apologize that they're really JUST candy".

I think that's pretty much a good thing to add whenever offering anything comestible out there. If it's true.
