Sell out within 3 hours. Six if there are server problems. Some people won't get them and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then step will open, the spice will flow and we'll all get to burn.

If they don't sell out, they can just feed the leftover tickets into step which if I remember correctly, has open registration with no deadline.

WAIT WAIT. My understanding is that tickets in the STEP program are limited to the amount of people putting them in for resale. In the event that not all of the 40k tickets sell initially in the main sale, what happens to them? Do they go into STEP or the OMG sale?

They haven't announced a plan, I'm betting they're assuming it will sell out. Regardless, they can change the game at any time, like they did last year. After the population cap got raised they added the last minute 1,000 ticket sale. But they also added 1,000 tickets into the STEP program.

In the unlikely event the 40k don't sell out, I'll bet that's where the remainder end up.

Tickets "selling out", if last year was any indication, is pretty much meaningless. We were well under the projected population, AND tickets were being sold, last minute, well below face value.

We will never know. All we can do is make guesses based on what data we do have. Since everyone does goofy-ass guessing rather than analyzing the data and coming up with something that might actually be true, the guesses people make here will be, essentially, worthless.

My bet is that tickets will sell out at 5:36 PST.
In 2011 I remember being on line around 6 or 7 pm getting one of our last pairs, and our camp mates getting their pair at like 8pm or so. Though, in 2011 servers did crash for a little bit. I remember some people got their same place in line, and some didn't. If memory serves my firefox window got kicked back to the end of the line, and my IE window stayed in line. I think it was because I don't use IE and so I don't have it set to delete all cookies upon close or any other privacy settings changed like firefox.

I sorta assumed that if tickets didn't sell out today, they'd leave the main sale open. At least until Sunday since Friday is payday for a lot of folks.
