Last year was my first year at burning man. I came with a friend and we had our little tent and mini suv, and I met few newbies last year and who had told me they were renting camps to simplify things. they basically paid a flat fee and theme camps provide them the stay and food.
Is anyone know how does that work? are there camps offer to rent out a space for you ?
Thanks for the information.

Re: Camp Rental ?
This was discussed extensively in the "plug and play" or pnp threads which you can search for. Many camps charge dues in exchange for various shared things, water, communal shade, food, costumes, shaded tent area, bar, art car, swimming pool (past years). A few camps are more promiscuous, providing more services to more stranger-like people in exchange for a lot more money, or so I've heard.
This topic always turns into a flame war.
And it's frowned upon to provide specific info on ePlaya about camp commerce.
As you know the intensity of the event, camping with friends you get along with/have common values is the first filter, then can come amenities as a decision factor. And as usual, your regional, friends and local BM parties is a good place to look for camps. From your description, I don't think you are looking for an expensive PnP camp.

You're not going to find much help and guidance on a plug and play camp here...

the rental event is at a different time and in a different location.

Actually, they were talking about how lame they were, I believe. Not quite the same thing.

I remember reading about PnP camps, but didn't see any specific names of the PnP camps. Maybe someone will be kind enough to messege you with some infomation!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Seems antithetical to the 10 principles (radical self-reliance), but hey, what do I know. I mean, I'm joining a camp/group of people that I know, but in some ways that's not technically self-reliance since we're relying on each other for support/shade/communal goods.

Earthwalker, PnP camps are way different from camping with others and communal items. You'll see the difference when you make it out to the burn.
