Ouch, Fishy!! I'm crossing my fingers that I never get further than Rampart. 6 litres, I hope you felt better shortly after.

And that's never fun for anyone. Unless you are an admirer of Vlad the Impaler. Then you may find amusement. But that would make you a sick fuck and sick fucks aren't generally too cool to be around.
Sure, you can hop in your vehicle, if you don't mind cooling your heels indefinitely.
I advise against it. In 2005 I was out with Robbidobbs and not enough water. We sat in the back of her truck, under the camper shell, and afterwards I went to REMSA and then had a ride to Reno. I was so dehydrated that I took 6 liters of saline. During the day, even in white out conditions, cars are heat traps.
Indeed.

I hope it did not appear that I actually advocate waiting out a duststorm in a vehicle during the heat of day. Delving into a cargo van between 10am and 3pm is like opening an oven to check on the cookies. Or actually climbing inside it.

Not at all, Savannah. I got your point of avoiding it. My travel buddy is planning on sleeping in the van at night. Doesn't sound fun to me

I would find sleeping in a (hopefully cargo) van to be a little claustrophobic, but many people don't. Rainproof and windproof. Warm-ish. Easy enough for 1 person; 2 people can manage it if they're very close. And no tent to strike.
Heck, some folks sleep in sedans with the back seat folded down.
A box truck is the ritziest of vehicles not originally intended for sleep however.

Minivan! I've slept in it with him before in the Anza Borrego desert down here. I think it was spring though. And I'd prefer the cuddle-ability of a female (just invented a word!)

Re: Looking for videos of dust storms and accidents
Last year's dicey tent situation ended up with me sleeping in my van at night and in the camp shade structure on my super cool cot during the day. The seat was a little narrow, but it worked.
