follow anitM's advice and beat it against the wall. If nothing falls off, then it's safe for the playa.
On that note, i simply love this thing. Can't wait to see pics of the full head dress

Re: feathers
You can make those look real with a tool called a hair blade tool - available at any place that sells leather working stuff.
I have pics of some done up that way floating around the boards here but am having trouble finding the post. I think it's in either One item for BM a day or the Costume and crafting help thread.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Re: feathers
thks all , I looked up the tool , it does make them look good. But Ill keep it simple , the hat underneath was a goodwill item , and the beaded front piece was a belt at good will. The white strips hanging in the front are from a old santa hat. The leather I had from makeing motorcycle seats , and the delron strips for the quills my boss at work gave to me .

This is my favorite: when someone sees the potential in random objects, and makes something new and amazing, especially for little money (although I don't know how much the leather cost!) Just wonderful.
