This is great playa cooking, really: each portion on its own plate, no drippy mess and if it falls apart you can pick up the pieces and eat them anyway.Ratty wrote:I'm in Aww of anybody that can cook. FIGJAM's Steak-In-A-Bag is another great example. Mooping away the bag is a small price for all that luscious protein.
No matter how hard I think, I still can't come up with anything that doesn't arrive in a bottle.

Re: Eplaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
MDF,
Cooking can be fun and easy. I started by watching episodes of 'Chopped'. Then, one day, a magical serendipitous occurrence took place in my kitchen. I had leftover Italian sausage, and green pepper and onions sauteed together from the previous evening. But only a half-portion. So, I decided to throw these leftovers into a macaroni and cheese mix.
While the mac and cheese was cooking, I looked at the side of the mac and cheese box. It suggested EXACTLY what I was preparing. That convinced me that I wasn't too far off in my skills. All I need now is a recipe and far less luck than I used to need.
In the course of a week, I make enchiladas, chicken tagine, bratwurst mit rotkraut, steaks, andouille sausage jambalaya and other equally fun things. And when I make a mistake, I tend less now towards throwing away my mistakes. I never, though, make mis-STEAKS. Medium rare to medium every time.

I hope I will have the forethought to get some of a friend's chocolate covered bacon. Of course, I would then have to keep the said bacon from being eaten during the week before the M&G.
I can try....

Re: Eplaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
So, while you are all starting to think about the plans for your gourmet delights for BM’13 please start to plan out the treats for the M&G
I’ve started to work on the temporary “re-shape” of the BDC couch structure so we can maximise space.
I’ve also given some thought to nametags - hopefully Shambala will make them again (
) - but I will collect them the day earlier this time so we are good to go. The idea of doing avatars is, well, an idea, but it just ain’t going to happen... come on we are burners...
Door bitches worked well last time - this time we want a couple more. Squirrelhead! both intimidating and friendly - just perfect. Also, the lovely Piginatuta (Andrew and Jane) have stepped up to help out here - bless them!
The wonderful mixologists (Turtlepburp and Bumble) are bringing back the espresso martini’s - but we need more fancy concoctions people! get your thinking caps on. Remember that we have power at BDC and if you bring a blender it can be used for the purposes of good.
So roll up, roll up - start thinking and planning out the awesome stuff you want to do for the M&G.

Trying out a recipe of chipotle popcorn with bacon tonight. To go with the champagne

HELLO!
this thread seems to be filled with vets, so...as a virgin (i don't want to call myself a birgin. haven't been able to use virgin in quite a long time, and i like it!) i obviously would love to come to this shindig. bcuz it is my first year, i'm trying not to overdo it. hence i will only volunteer ahead of time for this spectacular event! you all have been so helpful in the planning stages, if i can only give back to one thing, this is it.
so with that, you can give me whatever bitch work you want
and, i will think of some delectable vegetarian dish to bring. and mimosa makings. must.have.mimosas.

Moving this to Wednesday is awesome!!! Now, for the 1st time ever, I will be able to attend
I have wanted to go for years, but other commitments on Thursday have prevented me. So, I am penciling this into my calendar.
It will be nice to meet some of you in physical person for the 1st time... ( i am not against meeting all of you, it is just that i have already met a few, so some actually means the rest of you.)
{end of rambling comment}

I'm also happy to help out in any manner needed. I'm usually pretty good at being the entertainment. But some of you seem as equally "unique" as me, so that might not work in this setting.
I'll bring some booze at the least. Even though I don't drink anymore, I just can't bring champagne. 80 proof is the lower limit for anything I'll be associated with. In fact, if anyone is into drinking kerosene I'd be happy to bring some.

Ok, no kerosene. Maybe Bacardi 151 as a middle of the road solution. Or we could bring it back and drink some Zima

IIRC, "classic" is a fountain of ice water, sugar cube and absinthe spoon, drizzling absinthe over cube into ice water to create the "green Fairy".
