A Mist System for our camp
A Mist System for our camp
Hi all. I know misting systems are a topic that comes up every once in a while, but I just spent an hour searching the forum and still have a bunch of unanswered questions.
In short, I am looking to buy/make a misting system for this year's BM. We have a relatively small shade structure, so I do not need a lot of power. We will have plenty of power from solar panels should we go down this route.
From what I can tell, the simple thing to do is get a garden sprayer (3 galons or so) with a manual pump, and patch it into a misting hose. It's cheap and easy (hopefully) but will require frequent re-filling and re-pumping, and this is something I would love to avoid given that we have all this free power from the sun.
I've found some mentions of people using electric pumps for misting systems, but this is something I've never done before and it's hard for me to figure out where to start. If there's anyone who's done this and is willing to help me out, that would be awesome and i will owe you a huge favor.
Thank you!

Re: A Mist System for our camp
One solution, albeit a little expensive, might be to use a homebrew kegging system.
They use 5 gallon soda kegs, and a CO2 tank. I don't think it would be too difficult to patch it in to a misting system, and you could set the pressure on the CO2 tank as high or as low as you want.
These setups run around $150 for a CO2 tank and one 5 gallon keg, you would just have to figure out a way to patch together the tap hose to your misting system.
You won't have to worry about power, only how much CO2 you have left in the tank. but i think you could probably go a long way with a 5-lb CO2 tank.

Nothing like dredging up a 2 1/2 year old topic nobody even remembers as your first post.
Re: A Mist System for our camp
it's not my fault that a 2 year old thread is on the front page of the "keeping cool" subforum.
does the fact that the thread is old make it less relevant?

Each emitter on a mist system will use 1/2 gallon per HOUR.
