Thank you Yggy , he is a dear one
it is miraculous how we become one with our companions
as I said before
I miss my animal friends more than my children
but maybe it is because my children never really go away they just multiply the family with their attachments

Thank you for remembering my favorite hobby, besides TTITD.gyre wrote:The kinetic people may have forums too.
Elliot knows a great deal, but there are more of them not on eplaya.
If you can't find it, those guys can build it.
So I will explain: I am active in the Sport/Hobby/Art-Form/Behavioral-Disorder of Kinetic Sculpture Racing. We build pedal-powered amphibious vehicles and "race" them at venues from Seattle to Baltimore. Most of the pedal-monsters I ride at BM were actually built for KSR.
Are you familiar with the MV "El Pulpo Mechanico" -- the scrap metal octopus? That was built by Duane Flatmo, who is one of the top three all-time champions in KSR. I took part in a devious scheme to recruit him for BM, involving slipping him a free ticket -- and the rest is history. Lots of other Kinetic racers also participate in BM. In 2007 I ran a Registered Theme Camp with nine KSR teams. In 2010, we had Kinetic Cab Company on Esplanade.
In recent years there have been at least three attempts to launch a KSR forum. The third is still up, but traffic is near nil. Seems the sport has not reached critical mass yet.
I have a web page with some information about KSR. But it would not apply much to BM. E-playa seems a good forum for that.

Good morning. It's night time, but lots to do at work. Writing up folks today for insubordination and poor job performance. It sucks that this is when they might believe they have a manager. This is the last morning I'll start at 4 to finish work they aren't "feeling." Start early end early. And then start looking around to see who's hiring
Coffee's ready. Wish me luck.

dang Elorrum.....yeah, people can be so lazy. and then think they "deserve" a job, and get all entitled.
And when you're in the position of "boss"..........dang you end up the bad guy. I've seen it so many times, especially in larger companies, where people think they can just blend into the background and get away with doing little or nothing.
Good luck, with that!!
Well, TDIF!! and tomorrow is Burnal Equinox........halfway home! Gotta go get bacon and stuff for the "morning after" breaky here, for whomever ends up staying, or showing up on Sunday.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Sorry to hear about the tough day, Elorrum. Hopefully it provides the necessary wake-up call for some.
March has come roaring in like a sleepy, foggy lion here in the bay…

That's the view from my window. Normally you can see a good sized chunk of the city in that view, including BMHQ, but this morning the fog is nice and thick. It should burn off in a little while, though, I think the weather's supposed to be nice and warm come mid-day. Happy Friday!

The good news is that the job market (in Silicon Valley) is very good.
I am certain you can find a better position, one that is more satisfying.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Good afternoon everyone! Where is that
I made an emergency trip to my Mom's yesterday afternoon, in fact I am still here, gosh but leaving again soon because:
--as soon as I got here, she knew where she was again
and
-- my sister has decided that beverage alcohol and coffee are not good for our Mother, so, will no longer available here at Mom's house. I finished my sister's last bottle of white wine last night and the last few grains of ancient weak old coffee from the freezer this am.
I wish she had told me it was BYOB before I got here, but, oh well...
Doc I can just see Barbie taking down Clyde, ha.
And Yggy, I dunno how long the rabies virus can live without a live host. A bucket of plain water would do just as much good as bleach, though, so don't poison your beautiful flowering plants.

A pail of gently soapy water ought to bring peace of mind. Can the rabies virus live outside of a rabid animal?
The virus is very fragile and is no longer infectious once the saliva dries. The virus can be killed easily with soaps, detergents, bleach, alcohol, and ultraviolet light.

In the trucking company we had drivers who were such habitual malcontents that they actively sabotaged the firm's efforts. Sometimes I was tempted to suspect they were double agents who actually worked for a rival firm. But we were always short of bodies with a pulse.Elorrum wrote:...insubordination and poor job performance.
Some of them were self-destructive. One time I rode with a recent hire from Sacramento to Los Angeles, so that I could recover an abandoned truck down there. (This little trick also gave us the opportunity to quietly observe a driver at work.) I kept the cards close to my chest, but he understood that I was somehow connected with management. He even asked about it, and I replied something like "Oh, they make me do all the odd jobs around here."
Part-way down we switched seats. And... sitting right there in the passenger seat next to me... he lit a joint. Few things are more illegal in trucking.
I was constantly hiring new drivers and praying some of them would work out all right for a few months. Quite simply, humanity has a long ways to go. Best if we don't let it raise our blood pressure.

Great stories, Elliot. Good luck in your hunt, (((Elorrum))). A bit late, but Fishy, I really get what you posted re "help" Difficult, for both the giver and the givee. A delicate balance in a sensitive area. Very well said, Fishy.
TGIF. Misa, as usual, the edibles are delectable. Been very busy lately trying to break in a sales person who worked for me about 10 years ago. I find that everything takes time, and also that I now work more slowly. Ah well! YG, have fun at the Burnal. I have a full car heading to the SF Burnal. Hope to see some of you there. Got my new poles for my tent yesterday. Planning away for the days in the dust! Great fun, but dusty work! Tough task you have there, MDF. Hi Sav!

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
Very tough, MDF.
After another person wandered off locally I've been looking into trackers.
A judge's father, he got his truck stuck, died of exposure, in spite of many looking for him.
The problem is you don't usually know it's serious enough to do this until it's too late.
Seems to happen often here

Already returned a lost dog to their owner this morning. Went to get the paper, there's a shivering blue heeler. Sweet dog, came right to me, had a tag with their owner's number. My cats are still freaked out though.

Hey all! Think I'll set up my new tent today. It was on sale before Christmas, and I still haven't checked it out. Parcifal is playing from the met live in movie theatres today, not sure I'm up for it. Might change my mind last minute though. I just love loud music. Slurping a quick cup of deeelishus coffee. Thanks everyone fOr chiming in with words of support yesterday. It helps to turn back the tide.

Elorrum,
Definitely check the tent out
I spent 2 weeks in what appeared to be a grand new 2 room tent (for me a real upgrade , I thought)
except jt didnt survive the first big wind
the poles buckled
never again I said eating dust for all of the rest of 2012
but of course I smiled and so forth , kept on eating dust and liking it
never again is my next song set to operatic variety
please let me know if you like the opera on screen
xoA.

Hello my lovely people!
We had our first roller derby bout today. FIRST EVER! And it was great.
I would like to thank to all of you, who made possible for me a year ago to get skates.
You can't imagine how happy I am to be part of this
I will have few drinks on you tonight!
With love!
