He is known to us by many names, this Visitor from Elsewhere, dispenser of endless abundance and wielder of mysterious technologies: John Frum, Quetzalcoatl, Osiris, "Bob." His cargo is splendid, his generosity boundless, his motives beyond our understanding. But across the ages and around the world, the stories all agree: one day he will return, bearing great gifts. Our theme this year asks three related questions; who is John Frum, where is he really from, and where, on spaceship Earth, are we all going?

Could do stars, probably has been done before. Antares, Betelgeuse, Castor, Deneb, Electra, Furud, Giedi, Haedus, Izar, Jabbah, Kochab, Lesath.

Wood types: Aspen, Birch, Cherry, Dogwood, Ebony, Fir, Gum, Hemlock, Ironwood, Jatoba, Kaya, Larch

Astronomers: Agrippa, Brahe, Cassini, Dyson, Encke, Fleming, Galilei, Herschel, Innes, Janssen, Kepler, Lagrange

I dunno.

Street Name ideas: Andromeda, Bootes, Carina, Draco, Equuleus, Fornax, Grus, Hydra, Indus, Lyra,Musca There are no constellations that start with J or K though...

This year could go a few different ways... I like Simon's list of religious figures. I'm thinking if it's not that, it might be items related to Cargo Cults in general, maybe shipping terminology mixed with vague allusions to religious practices. So here's my shot (last year I sucked; I think I got maybe one right):

Aboard/Airstrip
Barrel/Bulk
Crate/Container
Dock/Deity
Embargo/Express
Freighter/Frum
Goods/Gods
Hatch/Harbor
Island/Indigenous
John/Jacket
Knot/Kilo
Lading/Load

Also, for the record: I think they should just scratch Ring Road for good and keep Rod's Road permanently. It would be a nice legacy.
The march begins at 6:30 p.m., but organizers say all are encouraged to start drinking early.

I agree wholeheartedly with bmix on permanently designating "Rod's Road".
On the rest, let's not get too, too esoteric, okay? The early suggestions seemed more accessible than some of the latter.
