Can anyone recommend a company that will deliver propane to the playa to fuel a vehicle?
We have a bus-based art car we intend to bring to the playa, but would like to plan for on playa fueling (if necessary).
Anyone want to go in on a delivery together?

Is it a propane truck? Do they fill vehicles?

About as likely as...

Assuming that it would even be allowed, it is doubtful that any company would want to suffer the liability of transporting that amount of fuel to an event like Burning Man, let alone setting up facilities to dispense it. Their fuel would probably end up costing you more than it'd cost to bring it in yourself. Just buy one of those giant propane tanks at Costco and bring it in yourself.

My understanding is that you need to have a special license to fill a vehicle w/propane.
Do you think bringing an extra tank and filling it myself is truly an option?

There are probably ways that you can find online, but it might just be easier to buy multiple smaller canisters instead, or fit the MV with the larger tank.

Does the MV run on propane?
Or are there propane appliances and/or propane fire effects?
Our RV (probably totally different than what you're doing) has a spot between the propane tank and the propane distribution to the oven, fridge, and water heater, where you can turn off the on board tank, and hook up an auxiliary tank like you'd use on a grill. You just need to buy a long hose with the bigger propane threaded attachment on each end. They sell the hose at places like Bass pro shops and RV stores.

The only propane powered vehicles I've ever seen are indoor use fork lifts.

Re: Propane delivery for art car
All it would take is swapping to a regular carburetor and adding a tank and fuel pump and you could just run it on gasoline. Overall probably less hassle considering the logistics.

Hey Gano, these Americans don't have propane powered vehicles like us Canadians.
There is a propane fill station at the new gas station in Cedarville - http://surprisevalley.us/rabbittraxx.html I'm not 100% sure they had propane, but i'm about 98% sure. I seem to remember seeing it when filling up last year.
Also there are on playa propane refueling trucks, they service art installs and flame effects on vehicles. Ask Dave X, from BMorg about connecting with these refueling services.
Hope your Bus project turns out awesome!
