Really, How can one really be content living in a world where we must justify our existence by laboring for someone else's profit? One week out of the year in imaginary land where everything is freely given for the sake of giving help keeps me sane and provides hope that the world doesn't actually have to be the way it is. I am an idealist, my beliefs don't mesh we'll with those of the realist, but I know it can be different. I have seen it.
A world based on giving is entirely possible, unfortunately there are some amazingly 'powerful' influences keeping it the way it is. I might be malcontent but its because I dream that we were all meant for bigger and better things. And the hippie part, well I bathe way more often than any Varangian would have ever...
Pointing out the catch 22 in hippies like me buying a shit ton of gas to get to the burn doesn't justify the crimes committed by the asshats who run the oil companies. That necessary evil crap is a crutch for the a-pathetic.
Are you content? Or is it apathy?
and as such, yay for being malcontent, and a hippie, or not.
I see nothing wrong with being unhappy with how things are.
I do, though, disagree that it justifies taking something that does not belong to you. endangering others in so doing, and this sense of "entitlement" so many take, when seeing someone or some company that is "successful"........."oh, they can afford it" and thereby justify theft.
no one forces you to work for someone elses profit: don't like it? go find a spot in outback "somewhere" and carry your water from a stream and plant your garden.
or, weave rasta hats and sell them on the corner.
you choose to work for others, because it's easy, and, more profitable than selling widgets from a cart or washing cars.
The world needs idealists. They drive the things thought "impossible". I get that.
But, if you think human nature, would ever allow a society where everything is a "gift", I believe you are delusional. Humans don't work that way. Yeah, for a week, even two, sure.
Can it be better? depending on POV, yeah.
But, P.T. had it right.
all that said, "two wrongs don't make a right" seems to apply.
you don't know, that bank robbed (reference for your original post) was not a small town bank, treating the customers well, and genuinely hurt by said theft.
I wish you a good burn, dreamer, for you're not the only one.
