according to wikipedia, a $300 value for an answer hasnt occured on Jeopardy! since 2001..

Huh... now that I think about it, that probably was the last time I really watched a whole episode of Jeopardy. None of this new-fangled "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" multiple-choice trivia format with a consolation prize if you get past a certain question...






(Though not really new-fangled considering that $64,000 question game came out in the 50s.)

I guess I just got "sort" of lucky buying tics as a n00bie somewhat....I just figured I would go ahead and buy two in case I could get my stuff together and go ...I like the STEP program cuz if I sell them, I want someone who wants to go, not someone who wants to make a buck .... grrrrrr

Wow, Figjam, what happens if you pay someone to stand in line for you, and you don't get the ticket? I'd hate to spend 1000 bucks on nothing.

Is it just me or are there a HELL of a lot less people on the web right now trying to sell tickets for above face? (Compared to this time last year)

If I may spread a bit of hope... I sit at a desk all day staring at a computer so I offered to try to help my 2 travel companions find tickets. One is a doctor and can't spend a lot of time at work searching for tickets (someone may die!) and the other guy owns a sailing business so he's out at sea a lot. Anyway, I've been busting my ass searching Craigslist in any major city that I know I have friends who would be willing to make a face to face transaction and then mail me the ticket. As of today, they both now have tickets in hand. Fortunately for my friends, I was able to channel my obsession energy toward finding them tickets. Now I'm at a loss for where to redirect my focus so I still search Craigslist and email people who are selling at face value to congratulate them. The tickets are out there if you are willing to look hard enough.

I think so.

* Tickets were selling for less than face price in August last year. People remember that.
* Many scalped tickets were invalidated by the ticket team last year. This discourages not only scalpers, but people tempted to pay their prices. No one wants to get to the gate and find out that their high-priced tickets are invalid.
* The OMG sale is still to come.
* And STEP works, although due to its success last time, I imagine that more people are hoping to use it.

My mum was on Jeopardy in the 60's and she won $300 over two days!!!! And a set of encyclopedias....

BTW, As of 6/24 the biggest scalper site has a total of 281 tix sold for average $608. Less than .5% of all tickets sold. Not significant at all.
