Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
There are three ways I know I'm really close to something exciting: I daydream about extreme experiences (both wonderfully amazing and insurmountably crushing), I think that I'm dying, I have the most fucked up dreams at night.
As my friend often says, the only difference between fear and excitement is attitude. There is no physiological difference between being on an amusement park ride and spinning out of control in a car on the highway (until you stop). So when expectation gets involved, it migrates to its bright and dark corners.
Relatedly, death is change. Well, life is change too, but death is concentrated change. So whenever I'm in a situation where I have no idea how it's going to turn out, I get a nagging feeling that the end of my life is near. If I can't see past a certain date, I figure that must be my last.
And then the dreams. Oy! There was one with something about none of my lights working. Then something about walking in toting a big cart full of all my stuff and it keeps falling off; meanwhile, everyone else is going the other way talking about how great it was. Or the one where I'm gone for three weeks and had forgot to close the front door.
That's how I know it's getting real.

Yeah, that too. "Do you really need it that loud in your car?" becomes "I bet I'll hear something like that at Burning Man."RedHeaven wrote:Music is on heightened awareness now.
One more thing: I'm aware of the phase of the moon. I have a thing about counting down the full moons until Burning Man.

Re: Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
The only reason I logged on to the eplaya just now is because I was telling a coworker about my inability to sleep well last night because of FUCKED UP BURNING MAN DREAMS, and I probably used those words verbatim.
I dreamed that I woke up and it was time for Exodus... The city was gone, and I realized I couldn't remember a single moment of it. I was devastated. Hasn't been that bad since just before my second burn, in 2005.
Without getting too weird, I've had friends murdered or killed in a plane crash this summer and this morning I found myself wondering why my dream-psyche gives a shit, out of all things, about Burning Man.
The result of Burning-Man-is-Over-and-You-Did-It-Wrong dreams is that you get a heavy dose of Exodus depression and you're not even there yet, but, the flip side is waking up and at least being relieved that it was just a dream.

While I have the attention of the echo chamber ...
I had a good one last night. I had a lot of coffee late before I went to bed. I had a dream that I stayed up all night, noting how I should have got some sleep as the eastern horizon started to shed light before dawn.

I dreamt Barbie Death Camp was on a space ship, and the red wine was created out of a complicated processing machine which turned waste water into wine.

Re: Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
Ok, ok... so last night, I had a dream that I am travelling with my parents to some place that's 8 hours away.
I have four burning man tickets, including two for my parents.
We leave to come back home but I forget my tickets back at our vacation spot. And I have only 24 hours before burning man! That means I have to make 16 hours of travel again to go get my ticket or I could decide not to go. I am trying to find people who can ship my tickets to me and all that. And in my dream, I am trying to make decisions.
Gosh, I hate logical dreams!

The playa in my dreams always has trees in it, for some reason. Also, naked people. WEIRD!

Re: Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
Whenever I doze off with the tv on, if the Mighty Boosh show comes on it triggers a playa dream.
In it I am in a very surrealistic camp at the burn and watching tv there. In the dreams the tv is showing scenes from a BM camp with lots of wackiness.
Generally very short, but vivid dreams. Last time it happenned, I actually woke up looked at the tv and thought it was actually happening them went right back to sleep.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

I usually have freaky dreams like this when I drink a lot of coffee or just before bed! Cheese doesn't seem to do it for me though.

I just had a dream that I was trying to sell a ticket I didn't need at an airport, and trying to convince someone else not to sell theirs above cost.

Re: Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
My Burning man dreams are in a hilly landscape, where I'm on the outskirts and can't find where anybody is camped. there's no straight line of sight, just meandering dirt roads through the hillocks.

I dreamt there were five Black Rock Cities strewn about the playa. Larry and I were there for only one day and we were trying to see the art, but kept getting stuck in beading camp.
Re: Let the Fucked Up Dreams Begin!
I know all too well about all the messed up dreams after burning man. Sometimes I feel I get more dreams about it during the winter months following a burning man event than the actual period itself. It's funny how dreams have a weird way of changing depending on the season. I've definitely had some real crazy and messed up dreams, but I learned to enjoy them as part of my subconscious expression.
