A friend is in desperate need of finding homes for her horses. They are being offered for free with contract to return if they become unwanted in the future. They are all registered and I can send pictures upon request.
Here is the list.
Future By Storm. 23 yr old grey broodmare. NOT a riding horse but is a fantastic companion horse and babysitter of weanlings.
Ameer Taj. Bay with blaze and sox. Long yearling. Halter broke. will mature around 14.2-15h
American Hope: grey filly, daughter of Future By Storm. Small but classy.Needs work but will make a super nice youth or driving horse. long yearling
Amercan Diva. 11 yr old broodmare. Sound and could be started under saddle easly. She is bay and about 14-2 to 15h. Would make a nice dressage or endurance horse.
Please help me help these horses find a new home asap. I have contacted many many rescues but they are all full.

Not sure about posting such an unrelated matter, but... this appeared on a local Freecycle list today. Located in Lake County, CA, which is kind'a at the far north end of the S.F. Bay Area. Use the listed e-mail address.

They just recently opened an Ikea around here. Maybe they'd be interested.

I love horses. But not eating them. I wish I could look after them.

Re: OT, Free horses
I actually don't like the idea that people give away "free" animals. Sometimes it leads to assholes taking them to abuse or some sort of thing. Having some cost at least provides a short barrier to entry.
In my city, I saw on the news that some woman was approached by some man about selling her pet horse so that he could butcher it for horse meat. She flatly refused. Later, however, she discovered that someone had shot her horse and butchered it for the meat.

I have already received one e-mail from an ePlayan with a referral to a possible "horse-rescuer". That lead did not pan out, but this is how things get done.

Re: OT, Free horses
But what about BLM's free horses? That's much more topical.

I get the feeling there is a surplus of (tame) horses. Like dogs and cats, I suppose.

You'd hope that the expense of feeding and keeping a horse would make you hesitate to breed your horse, but some people's kids.

Re: OT, Free horses
There is a horse rescue farm down the road from me, in Sonoma County. I don't know the name but they are located on Hunter Lane just outside of Santa Rosa.
Re: OT, Free horses
Thanks. I'm relaying that information.
Re: OT, Free horses
The lady reports all four horses have found new homes.
So we can go back to burning stuff.
