Summary: We are bringing sound to a few potties in every bank of port-a-potties on the playa at Burning Man 2013. Check it out at the PAudiotron website! Behold! The PAudiotron! Yes, emerging from the multi-burn addled brain of Sound Man a Burning Man 2013 art project has congealed, passed its viability testing hurdles, and coming to the playa this year. Yes, folks, the last place on the playa that you could retreat to in order to have a few moments of peace, the port-a-potty, has just lost its sacred sanctuary status. Burning Man 2013 brings the introduction of the PAudiotron into many of these most solitary spaces. You may rightly ask:

• What is the PAudiotron experience? Motion activated sound in the port-a-potties.
  What kind of audio experiences are we talking about? Extremely varied. Here is a sample. Here is another sample.
  How many potties are blessed by the miracle of the PAudiotron? 100.
  How can I experience PAudiotron? Look for the label on selected port-a-potties.
  How can I help bring the PAudiotron experience to thousands of burners? Volunteer!

1) No fall in the goo: A screw, securely attached to the unit, securely attached to the potty through an existing screen hole.
2) Theft reduction: The nut on the screw will require a special socket, and will resist finger and normal wrench removal.

Pretty much every bank of potties within the city arc will have 3 per bank. A few on playa. None near the gate. Also, none in the potties clustered around the big sound camps. It is impossible to get the sound right for these when competing with the mega thumpa thumpa.

I love this btw - I love the porta potty pigs too and regret being too selfish to give them my last bottle of sparkling wine as I had planned to.

I will be looking for a hybrid of your works, a clean, scented potty with beauty products, antique porn and audio no less!

Actually, the motion detection works OK through a vinyl surgical glove, and the sound goes right through it, as well. Each unit will be covered to protect it from the cleaning crew's hose.

I'm hoping to draw out the well-washed from their RV's, private potties, and turnkey Burning Man vacation packages back into the port-a-potties. I want folks to move from "I HAVE to go to the potty" to "I GET to go to the potty"!

Well, there is (so far) the Smashing Happy Birthday track, the Four Beep Tune Mashup track, and the Five Beep Tune Mashup track. Though these should not be insanity producing. I thought it best to pay homage to the pioneers of the craft.

It is whatever you want it to be, but could also be a sound play on words in which "PAudi" sounds like "potty", thus "PAudi"-o-tron. With a nod to the words used to describe the original Cubitron.

I've been too close to this. Is "PAudi"-o-tron not sort of obvious?

That sounds like a challenge. I always keep a pocket screwdriver and pliers in my tutu.

2) If you manage to get it off without breaking it, take a picture, send the picture to me, then put it back.

Been there did that!!

I try to camp across from a bank of shitters.. When in camp I turn the speakers to the pots.. Cranked Theme to Dragnet once.. A lady come out and said had scared it out of her and thank you..

The sound amps. as it hits the plastic shell.. You may be able to put your units on top of the potties. Or attach at the vents

Getting the volume right is one of the major challenges of this project. Too loud, and it will be physically abrasive. Too soft and you won't hear it well. I'm going to error on the side of soft, and avoid banks next to big sound. It is soft enough to actually be difficult to hear in the next potty over. The PAudiotron experience is a personal experience! -- Sound Man
