New to Playa from the edge of the Arctic

Post by FandangoMango » Thu Apr 11, 2013 4:48 pm

Hello there,

I'll be making my way to the playa from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. Maybe you've seen the Ice Road Truckers? Buffalo Air? The lake ice is melting now and we've got about 14 hours of sunlight! Finally! (The winters are a bit long, dark and cold)....I'm incredibly excited to be coming down with a small contingency of Northerners, some old time burners, some rookies. I'm looking forward to experiencing everything Burning Man becomes, I've heard only fabulous things.

I've just taken up Poi, so I'll be hitting up workshops left and right. I'll try to bring some henna, body paints, and other fun artworks to gift (I'm an artist/designer). I like to dance, do yoga, sing, make art, attempt to make delicious food, learn about other cultures/people/ways of living. Here's to a summer full of growth and learning! If you're curious about the part of the world I'm in or think we would get on as buddies, get in touch, maybe we'll cross paths. Have an amazing experience :)

Hey FandangoMango!

You've heard only good things? Oh, hell.

Well . . . maybe that's 'cause you're used to challenging weather. :D

Glad you've got some good counsel and traveling buddies.

We're a little snarky here, but nicest to the thorough readers and planners . . . i.e., people we wouldn't mind ending up camped next to.

Welcome to the board. :)

Welcome to eplaya.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
