Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: what are you listening to?
I don't listen to a lot of country, although on a very solid level I prefer it to rock. Country is likely to have one or more of the following instruments: fiddle, slide guitar, banjo, accordion. I like the sounds of those instruments better than the typical guitar, bass, drums set up of rock music. And when it gets to Hank Williams, yeah that may be the story of the song, but he can structure it, and use the right words to come up with songs wonderful half a century and more later. Or, to re-slice, that's all songs of most genres are about anyway. Love and loss. It's not the meat, it's the motion.oscillator wrote:Yeah, but aren't all those stories pretty much:
1) My wife ran off
2) My dog ran off
3) My pickup ran off
4) Now I watch the bubbles in my beer
?
Pretty sure Bird wrote Donna Lee after one of his pickups.
Elorrum wrote:marathon-ed my way through ken burns Jazz. Charlie Parker played all the country songs on a juke box after his gigs, and fellow jazz men couldn't understand it. When asked why, he answered, "the stories."

Actually, in video, as opposed to links, the address is in between the two bracketed coding bits, like (first left bracket taken off for demo purposes): video][/video]

Right.

ok, the Lyle Lovett Radio set on Pandora is kicking it today. As is the Bob Schneider one.
