Hey, MDF, maybe I should call them "Boobles". I did get the first molds made today and they are in the kiln and will be fired in a week or two. Now, back to my chair with my legs up!

Might have a conflicting castle invasion, if the Hof weekend is the same as last...
Last year it was the fourth weekend in June, and proposed for this year is the fifth weekend in June.
I hope you can arrange the other castle invasion for the fourth, and make it to the Hof again! After all, you'll get to eat the first sandwich from your cooler, and we can all watch you enjoying it.
We'll be planning a trip around the Hof party... AZ to WA via Hof, to BC, to Mtl and Que, to NC, and back to WA and AZ... back to work just long enough for my coworkers to remember who I am, before two (or so) more weeks off for TTiTD. If I still have a job after all that, then back to work again in Sept. I'll get to see my sisters, Neata (BC), Linda (Mtl) and Delle (Que) and her Ken, and my sweet Mom, and get to meet Playapoppa's Dad in NC, and his 3 sons in WA.
Of course, I'm waiting 'til after our 4 day Saguaro Man (AZ regional) the first weekend in May, (Thurs. thru Sun.) before telling work about the other time I plan to take off. Aaaahh... the advantages of working part-time for over 21 years...
It'll be so good to see Yggy and the Hof again, and see the new stove, and see as many of the gang who can make it. Last year's was so awesome, despite some rain and cool (cold) nights. This year, it'll be a whole week farther into 'summer' and hopefully a tad warmer... (and dryer)
I hope to see you there, Dougly!

ah, I just got back......I snuck up to the Hof, to see how things fared over winter.
and yay:
the furniture made it
The shutters made it:
and the front door survived!
Oh Dougly, say you can make it!! yes, June 29-30.
And I so agree with Triken, it'll be great to see everyone again!

ygmir, I remember you were worried about your camper roof? How did that fare?
I sat around today, but did manage to assemble a test boombox. I found some small speakers that don't need much volume (space) to produce volume (noise.) Also I found a sweet deal on some newish little amplifiers perfect for making small stereos. Right now I'm enjoying the mockup in a lunchbox sized cardboard box. can't find my camera cable... I'll post pics in in the "what' ya woiken on" thread soon.

and, Elorrum, I'd like to talk with you about some kind of (small) speaker thingy I can use with a tiny MP3...
for ideas, 'cause I probably already have all that's needed, I just don't have the savvy that you have about how to put it together. (more likely, I'm too lazy to figure out the details...) (insert big toothy grin here)

Driving from here (AZ) to Hof to WA to BC, and back to WA (tentatively) and flying from there to Montreal, maybe train to Quebec City & back to Mtl, flying to N. Carolina and flying back to WA, driving back to Ariz. It should be quite a fun trip!! Whirlwind three week adventure! I can hardly wait!Elorrum wrote:Sure Triken! I'm jealous, Triken.........what a road trip!!
Elorrum: can't wait to see your newest invention.
I went and checked out your campground area from last year. it's really settled with the winter. the whole area down there is just pristine.
not sure about the trailer, looked ok, but I think it leaked a lot, like the snow bent, but maybe not broke, the roof.

You really ought to be jealous of this road trip... It'll be an absolute blast! I just love road trips, especially when I get to see my awesome sisters! (And my Mom!!)
Bummer about the roof of the trailer... that doesn't sound like an easy fix.
If anyone can fix it, I'm absolutely certain it's you who can!!
Last year, I felt I had the perfect camping spot up there... and am hoping to (maybe) get the same spot this year... if we get there early enough!
OK, enough with all these exclamation points, already.

it was a bit soft, but very flat. sounds like the winter could only improve on that. It will have little plants and greens now. how nice.

Hi Gang!!!
Elorrum: that's a cool pic. yeah, actually the low are below your spot is standing water still. And there's some little greens, as you put it, sprouting. Maybe even some wildflowers?
Hi MDF! dang you have to work. I won't tempt you with photos of shenanigans or roasting meats, or wonderful friends, who all love you.
I'll leave that for others to do. Just know, folks would love to see ya!!!
Now Marty: "yellow balls yearning to be hit this morning"........this sounds like projection, sir. I can imagine the little yellow fuzzies, cowering in their cans, imagining, nay, with certain knowledge, of a punishing day of direction changes. Especially so, at your hand, your punishing racket slicing the thick cool air with the grace of a Peregrine descending on a dove, bringing that legendary impact, and "high G reversal", that their little society knows so well.......for tis not a legend, if it still occurs.

YG, you should take up writing as a second career! "Peregrine descending on a dove" Wow, talk about hyperbole! We did have a good game today. About 3 hours on the court, Spent the rest of the day recuperating watching the Giants beat the Cubs in a very entertaining come from behind game.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
You've got to watch out for those American painters, man, when the apocalypse comes there will be hordes of them everywhere. Speaking of paint, I've got to say our van has really been getting a lot of color since we moved. It's kind of hilarious to me, in 5 weeks of living in what's otherwise a much much nicer and more upscale neighborhood we've had more graffiti than in 5 years in the middle of downtown near the ballpark and the train station. I guess the stretch of tracks under the freeway nearby is a hangout for the more ambitious types. So long as they leave the windows, mirrors, and plates alone I'm okay with it. Now if only I could give 'em some rust-o-leum and have 'em hit the roof rack real good…

Lovely lilacs!
We have a skiff of snow this morning, lots in the mountains. I was going to get pansies into a planter, and primroses in the ground, but am rethinking that for today. Maybe this afternoon when the wind dies down a little.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
We're leaving it on for now. It's an old silver van with a few dents (from the previous owner) and rusty-looking spots from what's dripped down onto it off the steel roof rack above. It had 3 small tags on it from our days in SoMa, but now has big colorful stuff on both sides. At some point a little further along in the season we both plan on adding our own tags, both freehand as well as some stencils. We've tossed around the idea of painting it up a few times over the years, but other projects and lack of funds often get in the way. I have not seen other cars getting hit, but they're all decidedly more default-looking. I don't really see much in the way of cargo vans around. I'll grab a pic or two next time I'm out there.
Here's hoping the weather improves and you can get some planting done, AntiM!
Gah! Good luck with the root canal, Lucky!

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
in regards to "tagging" here in Da ROC, our downtown area has become an obvious target, and with a lot of space is empty, available, abandoned or improperly cared for, the "art work" especially near the train yards is getting quite, Thick...
needless to say, an interesting solution has been created by local artists (of course...
) and there is a "wall renewal" project where local artists and street artists combine forces to create street murals on abandoned warehouses etc etc, first painting the wall, than creating a community based project where everyone puts a stroke or a brush or a can on the image and they make it "Theirs"....it's amazing what has been done already in just a year, more to come this spring and summer....(when the gd weather finally breaks)...what also is surprising is how these particular pieces have, for the most part, gone UNVANDALIZED or if they are, they are quickly repaired by the neighborhood.
the "ownership" of something they were a part of creating is strong and protects it.
there is a huge amount of ugly walls waiting to be beautiful canvases, in many major cities....ours is in blight now, our major employer has died, kodak is gone, and the benevolence that came with it. We seem to have more than most, which is why we have addressed it, i suppose.
you cant even buy spray paint without ID and over 21 in the city, im sure this is a burgeoning black market in Krylon in the hood.
but this might make a dent, maybe even bring some kids out from the woodwork and turn them into artists...the talent is there, the guts are there, i'm a good climber, but i've seen shit and have stopped and wondered aloud how the fuck did they get up THERE.....just to tag their name, or paint a 'logo"...
so yeah, give them the canvas, give them the paint.....what comes after that will surprise you.
