Here's a true story just to show what an unthinking nob I can be.

I was playing a slot machine, and the woman next to me was missing her right arm halfway to her elbow.

As a drink was being brought to her, she reached for her purse for a tip and started getting hopelessly tangled in the strap and her sweater.

I didn't say "Can I help you?"

I didn't say "Do you need a hand?"

I didn't say "Can I give you a hand?"

What I did say without thinking was "DO YOU WANT A HAND."

It was sooooo the wrong thing to say that she laughed so hard she almost fell out of her chair, but she let me help her get untangled. 8)

Sav and YG, you are right. It is a relative few that create the hate and chaos in the world. Most of us really want to live and let live and just have a good and peaceful life. "Dang" hardly does it justice. ((((((((((All))))))))))))

Welcome back, Fishy! And what Yggy said.

TG, why'd the video get taken down? Nudity? Content rights? If it was the latter, take a closer look at the notice they sent you to see which track it was. Some artists and labels get touchy about full unmixed tracks being used in videos, which is what could have caused the flag. In that case, you can probably just swap the track with something else and re-UL it.

In other news, we got some bad news from the vet last night. We'd taken the cats in for regularly scheduled maintenance and upkeep over the weekend (rotate the tires, shots, etc), which of course was an ordeal as both cats had decided that they'd really rather just stay home and pull another shift at the Nap Factory. Our older cat (who's a pretty big boned cat to begin with) has been on a diet and making some good progress, they did some bloodwork to make sure everything's okay. The tests came back and it's not good. Right now it's between a couple things, with one he could have weeks and with the other he could have just a few months. We've got to run another set of tests to figure out exactly which, that way we can get him the right meds to make sure he's got the best quality of life in the time he has left. Poor guy.

Aw, Trilo, I'm sorry. Is this the big grey kitty who supervised your workshop so well?

I think I remember also a little ginger girl cat, and how you put them into your steampunk posters and how cute they were . . .

Oh yeah. It is totally copyright. I knew this and knew it would be a risk. The music I used fit SO well!! I can't change it :( so now not sure we're to upload it to : /

dang that's a lot of work to go to, knowing it'd be pulled for copyright...........can you break it into smaller vids? Nothing wrong with 20 mins, but many of us can't sit still that long......hahha. If it was a "series", it might be fun, say 10, 2 min vids and we could wait for each chapter? in the end, play them in order?

Thanks, Yggy. Toasts are always welcome.

Savannah, yeah, it's the big gray guy (Gandalf). He's helped with nearly every playa project and clothing project (playa and otherwise) since 2006. Our other cat (Trillian) a smaller cherry blossom calico, she's only been a helper since 2011.

TG - I'm not sure how Vimeo handles it, but they still have the same legal obligation to the label that Youtube would. I'd recommend getting over your hangup on the track - it's not like you were filming a live performance by the artist and swapping it for another song would be disjointed, and it's not like there were a lot of microcuts and effects perfectly synced to the beat (like something you'd see on MTV). Save your current edit for yourself and friends to see (director's cut, if you will) and then make an alternate cut with a different track. Maybe use a site like dropbox to be able to send the director's cut to friends/campmates, then post the alternate version on youtube if you want the world to be able to see it.

TG: I'm sitting on a complete episode of Portlandia on Youtube, music and all. I have it marked as Private, and send out the link when I want people to see it.

You can probably do the same with your video, that way you don't have to scrap the music, but you can still show your work to people you know and like!

Ygmir, over the days I've been gone, thinking about all this, one of the first things I thought was that I was being unfair to you. I had been following my own train of thought about the "politeness" thing but when I posted, I jumped in without the intervening steps. I wronged you my friend, and I'm sorry.

I am going to repeat, for the general audience, that I feel, strongly, that the idea that because I am in a wheelchair, I therefore belong to world and that anyone who wants to fuss over me gets to, or at least gets to try, is offense and a curtailment of my freedom. I would love to have the dignity of Rosa Parks, for instance, but I will fight my fight even if I look stupid and over-reactive, because I will not live on a leash. But that is a very separate thing from my friendship for, and regard of, you.

I do my best. Which can be pretty fucking crappy at times. Unfortunately, I seem to ignore the early warning signs and wait until I get to "scream".

As the subject has been broached, two more ideas...
1--some people feel powerful when people do things for them. Other people feel powerful when they do things for themselves, and feel less powerful when people do things for them.
2--one man's nice is another fish's "yet another in a long line of busy-bodies trying to impose their reality on me."

For what it's worth.

Sorry to hear about your kitty, Trilo.
My cat has some sort of thyroid problem. He was losing weight and I was worried sick.
Now, he's go these pills that I throw into his food, and he's healthy and happy. I guess cats get that a lot.

Good to have you back, Fishy.

Our cat got a bit slashed by a raccoon who lives under the house. Actually a family of raccoons. The cat has had a rather peaceful coexistence with the coon family, but I guess somehow they crossed swords the other night. Cat has a bit of a gash that has healed rather quickly although a bit of fur is missing. Cat's demeanor is as inscrutable as ever and he seems to be doing just fine and is none the worse for wear.

Will be firing my first run of "Boobles" on the weekend. These are the molds that I use to make the male molds that become stamps to make the actual "Boobles". I guess that name will stick. Thanks, MDF!

thanks for housecleaning AntiM.

gotta do some stone cutting today, making the "authentic" base for a historical refurbish on a stone from 1870. It'll go to a cemetery at the actual site of gold "discovery" here in CA, which precipitated the gold rush of '49.........

Yes, TG, if you mark it private, Youtube will just give you a warning about it. Then don't send the link out publicly, only to those folks that want to see it.
