My friend at work says your all hippies , I said dont think so. When I lived in the midwest in the 60's I was told hippies wernt clean and didnt work. Then we moved to Ore when I was 14 and when I was 15 I visited a commune. They were pretty dirtier and didnt work , so it kinda set my opinion. I thought most of ya all had jobs and worked hard on whatever. Can you do that and be a hippie?

why the fuck does it matter if we're hippies? Who's judging? and who cares what the judgement of "whomever" is? I get filthy dirty, not only working, but playing. I have a dirty mind, and mouth, at times. I've grown long hair and had short hair.
If I've learned anything in BRC, it's "don't judge a book......." the stinky guy with dreads and one shoe, beads and a sports bra, may well own half of Chicago.
Are you worried about being around a bunch of hippies? Would it embarrass you, if we all were hippies and your friend laughs at you? Would it stop you from going?

I'm pretty sure there are almost no hippies at Burning Man. They can't afford it.

we were just argueing over what a hippie is , I dont care at all . I am old and do now try not to judge a book by its cover . Back in the 60's and 70's many older folk thought I was one Im sure

Which pissed me off cause I worked hard , and as I said I went to this commune and I wasnt impressed so I had this judgement what a hippie was.

I am the "token' alien/hippy" at work... been there at that job over 21 years, and will likely be there 'til I retire in my 90s. Every decent employer ought to have one, in order to be politically correct.

Being a hippie wasn't ever really about employment status, it's about being counter-culture. Embrace it, have fun with it. Tell your friend they're right, we're all a bunch of hippies. Then show him/her this:
