Thats a great idea!Asquared wrote:i had also thought of the community canvas - i actually worried that people might accidently (?) draw on the truck. i know BM is full of really great people, but i also know there are a few who could potentially fuck the whole thing up :/ maybe i do that, but don't leave the sharpies out - only put them out while we're hangin.
A person might not realize its a rental and start decorating the whole thing.
I hear ya.Asquared wrote:illy - i am using the truck for shelter as well. i didn't really want to deal with the tarp on the roof, rigging something so there is air flow and all of that. i read a thread about shade over the truck and it just seemed too complicated for my first burn.
We did it last year with JungleSmacks truck, and it did take probably an hour to get the whole thing rigged up. He used a GIGANTIC silver tarp. It went from the ground on one side up over and to the ground again. We originally tried 10"x48" concrete form tubes as the buffer between the truck top and the tarp. But, they're round... so they rolled to the middle after a while. Half way through the week he threw empty boxes up there, and the stayed where they were put.
Since it went to the ground on each side we were able to put rebar right through the grommets and into the ground.
At the front and back of the truck we laced rope through the grommets. And pulled the ropes tight, to sort of cinch the tarp down. At the front over the cab the tarp was too long and went way out over the box and the cab. There we cinched it down and tied it to the frame of the truck.
It sounds WAY more complicated than it is.
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Got this cooler on sale today. Should be good for the food and drink daily use box. I've got a giant 150 qt marine cooler for the ice storage and another regular one for the beer.

Also found these cool curvy needles and some fishing line. Time to start sewing EL wire to shit.

If you are moving to the SF Bay Area, you can get everything you need from Craig's list. Or free on the curb.

I got ingredients for organic DIY makeup remover that is olive oil based, which I would never have thought of if Savannah hadn't suggested it long ago in the makeup threadSavannah wrote:Alcohol-free conditioner, olive oil hair lotion, silicone earplugs.
Re: One Item for BM a Day
I bought make-up and a mirror. The make-up is all sparkles. I'm bringing different hair, (stuffed animal wigs), this year and I've decided to to war paint. I never wear make-up. I never fix my hair. I don't know if I can pull this off. I 'greet' with Ira. He always does full face paint. I'm gifting all of my extra costumes because I seem to have accumlated 2 rooms full of them.Yes. I'm drunk and it's only 2:42 pm. But it's 6AM in Thailand. There'a a fundraiser in Oakland in July and I've been asked to bring costumes as a draw for there kickstarter. Fuck. I hate Oakland. I'll do it. I've been meaning to go see that Nimby art area.
When I think of all the neighbors I've met at the various burns it makes me sad. I can't remember there faces. I couldn't recognizse their scrotumes in a line-up. I have some emails and addresses but I never seem to find them. I made costumes to gift them last year and never did it.
I left as the man was burning and can you believe it! One of the guys was being interviewed on the channel and talking about my friends that I never bothered to find. I cried all the way to reno. (Once you're packed and moving, nothing can turn you around.)
Don't post drunk. You WILL be embarassed later. I love you guys.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Sometimes drunk posting is genius. Mind you, I'm not too far behind you - I started victory drinks once I finished my ziggurat model, and now I'm a few beers in. Seems perfectly wonderful on this sunny day, if you ask me. Cheers for dialing up and aiming to do makeup this year. If there's ever a place to step outside of yourself and try something different, that's the place. Depending on your campmates/friends, you may end up having some helpful and talented people at the ready to help with putting stuff on, too. On a couple different occasions I've camped with people who kindly helped me try and get decked out here and there. Otherwise it's slow going (though I'm getting to be okay with nail polish).
Aside from finishing the model (pics in the Work In Progress thread) and the beer-drinking, the aluminet shipment arrived today. Hooray, that was fast!

Don't feel bad about it - I wouldn't recognise my neighbors scrotums in a lineup either.Ratty wrote:When I think of all the neighbors I've met at the various burns it makes me sad. I can't remember there faces. I couldn't recognizse their scrotumes in a line-up.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
