I saw the finished picture! Those turned out wonderfully. I've gotta send the link to a Burner friend of mine who enjoys canning; she would just love that you used jar lids.tatonka wrote:Savannah wrote:Holy @#$% Tatonka, are you making those yourself?![]()

That first one should read "
". The slash indicates that the action should be stopped.
So: [polka] (dancing) [/polka]
[drink] (shot of vodka) [/drink]
of course you have to have the bbcode activated, too.

The bbcode works like this: [polka] (dancing) [/polka]
That "[/quote]" and the beginning doomed it.

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
Right. A slash should appear in only the end bracket. Quote tags (or other tags) need to look like this:
[ quote ] hummina hummina hummina [ / quote ]
. . . without the spaces in the brackets. (I have to leave a space in there for these purposes, or the board will attempt to turn that into tags.)
And if it hasn't been done, BBCode has to be turned on first:
User Control Panel
Board Preferences tab
Edit Posting Defaults
Tick Box Next to Enable BBCode
[Submit]

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
I never found a pair of goggles that worked for me. I ruin my glasses by running over them. Your glasses will be fine. Well, almost certainly fine. I'd use an older/spare pair. The playa's rough on stuff, but you don't actually need to see as fine as you do in the outside world... Or I never did.

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
First, bring some canned air, and spray off the dust from your goggles before even attempted to wipe them down and smear that dust around. If that isn't enough, what works for me is to use a wet-wipe on the surface to get the dust and stuff off, and then using a dry wipe to forcibly wipe off the moisture. If you don't dry, you get these ugly dried out drops on the lenses. I do this on sunglasses; it should work fine on prescription glasses.

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
Also, glasses shouldn't really get scratched any more than they would anywhere else. While there is ferocious wind, the dust in the area is about the consistency of talcum powder. It isn't coarse/hard enough to do real damage to glass or acrylic lenses under normal circumstances, though if you wipe at it too aggressively you might create some minor swirled distortions (use a can of compressed air to clean them).

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
These are the ones I made for 2013. I bought prescription auto-tinting sunglasses with perfectly round lenses, and then 3D printed adapter rings to hold the lenses inside a set of cheap brazing goggles. I need to fine-tune the lens distance and angle, but it was perfectly usable and pretty neat. The rest of the time I wore prescription sunglasses. Ordering this stuff online is great, I splurged on wraparound prescription sunglasses and paid about $80, but you can get a bunch of spare glasses for the playa for like $10 each.

Re: Goggles for Contacts/Glasses-wearers
My glasses and sunglasses have been fine on the playa with no damage. I have goggles that fit over my glasses - lots of places sell them and Google is your friend.
