Rugby Camp
Me and my rugby team would like to start a rugby tournament and rugby camp for 2013 Burning Man. I was hoping for some advise and see if there are any rugby players out there that would like to help out.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Rugby Camp
Just go for one or two matches. There's too much going on to do a lot of rugby playing.

Re: Rugby Camp
kiora from NZ my rugby loving burner friend. This sounds like a game of 'code' so exceptional it would be worth coming out of retirement for!!!! Formally a keen yet mildly talented back rower (blind side flanker) i would be honored to fill any gap required between tight head and fullback for the chance to set foot in such hallowed turf. As for pedigree, I am yet undefeated in Nevada having once helped Berkerly defeat the locals after meeting them in the pub the night before and filling in for team mates involved in crash. As for me, I am 30ish burner rookie set on making my debut with lovely Mrs H in tow in 2013. Never met another burner nor have any contacts in the US. However about to book flights, communicate, engage and offer skills and enthusiasm. How could such a mission with such extraordinary possibilities not be an overwhelming success!! Look forward to learning more......
Re: Rugby Camp
Former rugger here definitely interested in this camp! Traveling from Atlanta GA
Re: Rugby Camp
This will be my first burn if we get tickets, my fiancee and I are coming as part of our honeymoon and we have been thinking of ways we could participate and contribute. This would be a great way for me to get involved, I currently play semi-pro in the UK and play anywhere in the front row however I have always seen myself as a fly-half trapped in a props body
! Would be keen to play in the game for sure but I'm wondering whether committing to a camp at our first burn would be too much, as we would like to really take all of the event in without having to commit to a specific camp. Some advice on this would be awesome!

Re: Rugby Camp
All the rugby enthusiasts could join up together as a group to camp together, but not necessarily as a registered theme camp. There isn't much commitment to doing that, other than hanging with people that have like interests and sharing your resources and chores. If you are all traveling from overseas, you would only need one camping stove for the whole group as an example of sharing. One person may be a really good cook, and others may be great at pounding stakes and setting up tents and shade.
Burning Man is traditionally not a sporting type of event, but I have seen giant croquet, bowling, golf etc. out on the open playa. The thing to keep in mind is to keep it really creative, fun, don't expect to ever keep a real score of the game. A thought might be to move the game after every 2 goals, by using orange traffic cones. This would allow an instant game to pop up near a crowd, then disappear as quickly as it showed up. Clothing is optional.
The main thing is to keep it creative and fun.

Re: Rugby Camp
Former Flanker here, now I am more of prop size.
I think it would be cool to set up a camp with like minded people. Rugby songs would fit in great at burning man. Zulu warriors are welcome and virgin burners could shoot the boot.
Last year was my first burn, I went solo and slept in my truck. Met a lot of good folks to hang out with and welcome me. Was looking into trying to find groups around me up in N. VA. I was also looking into theme camps, but there are a lot out there with vague expectations. I am in, if this Rugby camp starts developing. I am bringing my little travel trailer this year, driving the few thousand miles from Virginia to my home state of NV.

It's a lock that you could find plenty of hookers on the playa.

Re: Rugby Camp
I once saw photos of an "urban" golf game, play on San Francisco streets. It looks really cool.

Ahoi! Number 8/Lock from the Netherlands
Would love to join a rugby camp if one develops. Just hope that I can get a ticket!

I won't play but I'm a lock for the Elephant Dance!

You should be out parading around instead of staying home and reading a bloody book.
