Re: One Item for BM a Day
Nice! I have an LED work headlamp that I got from a big box hardware joint a couple years back for a good price, that thing has been invaluable. It's got an adjustable tilt with click-stops so I can adjust it from straight ahead to almost completely downward, it's served me well both at home or on the playa when I need a worklight. I try to have light where I need it most of the time, but sometimes when you've got to crawl around behind or under stuff it's nice to be able to see clearly with something hands-free.
CnM, we'll be bringing 70 gallons for the two of us but we always get a few more more than we need. We've had campmates underestimate their own needs in the past, plus we like to have ample to share if we encounter depleted souls (our camp will hopefully be in a higher traffic area, either on or just off Esplanade).
The shipping gods smiled upon me this afternoon, dropping crates from the heavens (well, delivering boxes from their trucks) that contained such magic as my uber-fancy router bit and some paint samples.

Tracking info says the mailman will deliver this small FM transmitter today. small range, FCC legal.
radio KELO, or an offshoot Decentralized Dance Party to rove around. I'm hoping it's more than a toy.
I was amused by a competing version that had a hackable pot to increase wattage, "under the little piece of black tape on the back cover." wow, some hack.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I just had three radios running in my small studio apt. very strong signal at 4-10 feet. ha, that's just a short cord in old technology. I don't think the range is much over 120', and I'll test it from the garage tomorrow, see how it works through obstacles. I'm camping with Dread Pirate Barbie, so pirate radio is de rigueur. Maybe just a trike parade and some Wagner, ala Apocalypse Now. Bring a radio.

my damn dog ate my NEW garden sprayer yesterday! he loves to chew up boxes, and i left the amazon box unopened in my living room. he chewed through the first box, into the garden sprayer box and a bit of the hose. hopefully i can fix it, although it was <$20 so it's not a huge loss.

Yeah, I like the C.Crane as well, and was considering it, but got caught up in an ebay auction for the whole house transmitter.

I picked up six 2 foot sections of 1/2 inch rebar. These will be used on the monkey hut I plan to build. Just put a smile on my face knowing what I am going to use them for

I like it Tom! Cant wait to see it after you're done with it!
Where did you find such a nice fat tire bike?
Hope you'll post pictures in the bike builders thread....please , please?

Asquared...bummer about the sprayer hose. Is it chewed near an end where you could just cut off a piece?
Otherwise I've seen replacement sprayer hoses at the hardware store.

It's a Mongoose "Beast" found it at Wal-yworld online for 200. The frame, especially near the head tube, is perfect for cutting and raking out the forks. Think I'd go with a triple tree on the chopper version. And maybe a centrifugal clutch, for Non playa use.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Tom, just checked it out online. Thanks for the where to find info.
I like everything about it except.....coaster brakes!
Why does it have to be coaster brakes?
Good price though.
I wish that wally would sell the parts that go with all the bikes though.
As much as 2 tires for a bike cost you could almost get a whole new bike!!

If I remember correctly, by removing a spring ban from the coaster brake will make it a free wheel.. The ban go's around with a tip sticking out.. In the forties that tip would break.. Lots of crashes.. they were the only brake on a bike..
Two years ago I bought a whole bike from Wally World just for the two wheels.. The drive wheel is free wheel. Will be using it and another this year on a gas electric hi bred pusher (dirty word) trailer.. When applying for MVD approval I will use the term "pusher wheel".

Re: One Item for BM a Day
Very true Unjon, I recall the "make your own freewheel trick" from back in the day, also!
2 washers and a spring. (washer-spring-washer) Theres a few How to vids on Youtube
OR
somehow find a freewheel adapter that will work with the rear hub and it will let you thread on a freewheel.
Not easy to find, but sometimes on *bay.
I think I might have to get one of the BEASTS! Hope you don't mind, Tom?
Did you get the red frame?

Yeah, I got the red frame...both to go with my camp colors...and the green one just might be confused for a "Yellow" bike. I'll probably wind up painting it primer black eventually. Definitely changing the seat and adding some type of ape hangers or wide cruiser bars.

Yeah, that's kind of a drag that it might get confused with a "Yellow bike". Even though the frame and wheels don't match the "Yellow bike fleet", it's sad that someone might jump to the conclusion that you have misappropriated a "yellow bike" when in fact you haven't.
I guess I will wait and see what color my sister would rather have because she'll likely be riding it.
I'm thinking she might lean towards a blue one whereas I might go with the red.
I would swap out bars and seat, also.
Its hard to tell from the picture if its a true red-red or a orangey-red.

Never thought of it.. My ReTrike is yellow.. Going to have to keep an eye on it.
Go to Good Will and look at the seats on the exercise machine.. Some times the whole machine is marked $20.. That's a good price for the right seat.. Build your scrap pile up at the same time

As I recall from a picture here somewhere, the "yellow bikes" are more GREEN then yellow just to make it more confusing!
