HI MDF!!!
ha! I was posting while you were.

haha, great response to the patient!!
I'm glad to hear your tooth is feeling better. If you have some time, you might consider CoQ10 at around 100 mg/day for a while and see if it helps heal stuff.

That was a good one, MDF! Official moods be damned, I maintain that laughter is the best medicine. Let's hope the powers that be can overlook a little levity, and I can't imagine the gentleman you were talking to reporting the incident. Get your caffeine on, and enjoy your Friday. Weekend's a-comin!

Maker's Faire is this weekend, I'm excited. I want to try and catch a workshop or two, plus scope out some awesomeness. The lighting wizards that make the stuff I used on my bike (and brought EL wire to Burning Man) will be there, I want to check out what they've been up to and pick their brains for ideas on bike upgrades. I wish I had the kind of budget that would let me work with them for lighting on the ziggurat, but a trilobyte can dream… On the opposite end of the scale one of our favorite people from the Farmer's Market will be doing a workshop on how to make your own sauerkraut that Pandorra's keen on. She's got today off, we may go see that new Star Trek movie this afternoon before heading over to our workshop place for a meetup with the company that we use for 3D printing service. They're in town for Maker Faire, and having a meetup shindig to talk a little shop. Should be fun.

Morning, YG, MDF, Trilio Great line MDF. Without a bit of humor, life becomes one long dental appointment! I will be volunteering at the Exploratorium table/exhibit at the Maker's Faire tomorrow, Trilo, so try to stop by. Elliot will be "figure 8 racing" so hope we'll have a chance to say hi to him as well.

Was at an ARTery meeting last evening and there is so much happening this year. Two Peter Hudson pieces and perhaps 600 mutant vehicles. Preview of Art on the Playa will be held at the DeYoung Museum this year!!!!! A first for the Burning Man Art Movement. Bettie June, our fearless leader, reported on her trip to the South Africa Burn, attended by 8000 folks. So far, 235 registered pieces of art and much more flame art than ever before.

Yay!!! It is indeed Friday and the very first day of the rest of your lives. Too bad that the Warriors lost, but they gave it a hell of a run. Wait till next year!!!

If you were in town today, Yggy, I'd bring you for sure. Marty, that's awesome news on the art and MV front, this year's shaping up to be even more epic than the usual epic!

Bonus points for the girl waking up and being even more excited to go to the movies than I am, she was on the movie ticket app first thing. And bonus points for the imax theater near us not only having it, but having recently upgraded to a seat-reservation system. No more going an hour or more before the movie to sit/stand in the line. Then triple bonus points for her being even more on-board the Participation Picnic than I thought. I sent an email off to Jocko to sort out details, but looks like we'll do an Eridu Society thing at this year's event. Curio cart, rubber stamp bar and other nonsense. If you're in the bay area, come on out to the potluck BBQ in a couple weeks, it'll be fun!

I read the list of 2013 honorarium art installations - I think it's going to be a mindblowing year for art. I love how lighting technology has been growing, what was amazing is now just a building block for more incredibleness. El-wire? That's so 2005. Programmable strings of LED's that was mindblowing when cubatron first came to TTITD? You can get a miniature one in a catalog for $100, and the hardware to build your own full scale for a couple-hundred.

Tis year will be seriously mind-bending. The board approved an increase in the honorarium, which resulted in 66 art grants this year, up from last year (which I think was a record) which had 44 recipients. Aside from the grants, there is a metric shit-ton of projects registering for this year. With a month left for people to pre-register, I think we've already surpassed last year's total.

Pandorra and I are about to leave the pub, we'vebeen enjoying a couple pints after a trip to the movies (liked it a lot) and aregoing to wander around a bit before our workshop/meetup thing.

Our turn to go to a flick tonight. Hope to see you tomorrow, Trilo, at the Maker's Faire. We plan to get there at about 11 or so and will start out at the Exploratorium Table/Exhibit for some volunteer time.

Excellent, excellent. I'm not sure what time we're planning to get there, but will definitely stop by. I'm thinking of going a little fancy and wearing my topper, and will be with the girl with the bright red hair. I know, that doesn't narrow it down by much in this town, but I'll be looking out for you.

The 3D printing services meetup was kind of lame. Hooray for them providing free beer, but they didn't really have any kind of presentation or staff that were that familiar with the more technical side of how their services work. It was more like a booth cheerleader meetup. We did meet one of the guys from Autodesk's 123D Apps team (the free/cheap desktop/mobile design tools division), he knew his stuff pretty well and was really impressed with the button Pandorra designed top-to-bottom in their app (we'd brought plastic and metal versions to show). Afterwards we popped into a nearby art supply joint and grabbed a few things for various projects we're working on.

Hey, YG! While you are mopping (not moping I trust!) I'm off to the Maker's Faire for the day. Beautiful day here with temp to go up to about 75. Saw a doe and 3 little fawns out in the back yard a few moments ago. The fawns were about the size of Brittany Spaniels. They are really beautiful and would be welcome if they didn't chew up some of our best shrubbery. We are really inundated with these creatures here. I sprayed "Deer Fence" over the plants and that seems to work. It carries a smell that is reported to be repugnant to the deer and yet humans can hardly smell it. Sort of a Hydrogen Sulfide smell.

Made the first prototypes and the molds for this year's "Boobles" Look pretty good. Now I have to go into production!

Have a great day, kiddies!!!

have fun, Marty.
I've lived with and around deer, all my life. One thing I can tell you is, nothing, works forever. They are goats. they eat anything, depending on how hungry they are. Physical barriers are about the best. A barking dog can work.
my neighbor used to shoot them with a paintball gun, it'd chase them out, and he could tell when they came back.

Deers... we picked up some new ferns yesterday that are suupposedly deer resistant. The young ones are still learning what they might find tasty, so they'll eat things that the older ones won't. And if they hungry, like ygmir says, they eat a lot of things that may have been overlooked before.

Moin moin!
yeah Ygmir nice color on that rose.
is the base shoot of that Rose bloom coming from the root-stock? some roses are grafts, other times it's a "reversion". the original rose is a clone of a plant that had different traits than it's normal relatives and was there for chosen to be cloned. we call these "sports" . further down the line a branch can grow out from one of these clones and it displays the traits of it's Genetic stock this is the "revert". googleing those terms will give a better and illustrated explanation.

anyhoo things to do.
Loving all y'all.

yeah, it's a volunteer, seeming "climbing" rose.
just started one day at the base of a huge tree.
it made white/yellow frail looking roses over the last few years, no color or anything.
Now this. so.........dunno.

Those are Climbing Joseph's Coat roses. Yes, they do change colors; I think it's from the heat, or sunlight. The plant begins to bloom at this time of year, producing copious numbers of blossoms and they're really pretty to look at. Really a nice rose bush to have in a garden.

Dammit Bill, er I mean Marty... pandorra and I swung by the exploratorium table a couple times through the day, no luck finding you. And I didn't spot Elliot either. But I ran into a few unexpected friends, one I hadn't seen since last year and another for years and years. I also finally got to meet my lighting gear guys, thank them for the help they and their team have given me on projects over the years as well as their general contributions to awesome blinky glowiness. Then picked their brains on a couple projects. We also got to check out some great workshops and exhibits, came away excited and inspired for our own projects, got a few nice playa flashbacks, and even a funnel cake.
