The guy on the left is Zephyr.... west wind.

Whose name I came upon while doing a study two months ago of that painting. I have had the print in my bedroom for years. I graduated from Mahtomedi High, home of the Zephyrs. Yeah, I know, not freaky enough, just "serendipity".

She guides me often miss Serendipity. Whom I also enjoyed in the movie "Dogma"... when it happens, I simply KNOW i am on the right path. So Zephyr WILL blow on the building I am working on. The owners do not know it yet.. but I have a feeling it is fate.

Well, we thought it would be nice to honor the beautiful ladies that frequent this place by putting a composite picture of all of you up there above the bar.... you like?

Could I get a single malt, please? I'm going over there and sit and study this picture with a fine scotch, a fine cigar, and fine company...

Ahh!

The sunset out my "window" was lack-luster.

The sunrise though was divine.

i think I will have a...

Brain Hemmorrhage

1 oz. Peach Schnapps
1 tsp. Irish Cream
1/2 tsp. Grenadine

Pour the peach schnapps and then slowly pour the Irish creme without mixing. The creme will clump together and settle at the bottom of the schnapps. Pour the grenadine over the creme to complete the drink.

Good! It's poetry night....

Here's one....

THE WELL

I went down to the river again
to draw water.
And everywhere brush and trees,
birds and breeze, blew askew
the memory so firmly rooted in its sand covered boulders.

The murmur of water, furtively making its quiet way
through shadows to the sea, tapped a billion hammers
against canyon walls, and the open, and accepting sky.
Two swallows, lovers for this time, swooped and darted,
above ripples defined before their ancestors were eggs.

I plunged my bucket into the flow, pulling water
from Kubla Kahn, Hannibal, Gilgamesh, Grant, Mushashi,
mingled in time, turned to clouds, drifted across the face of the Earth,
dropped, raised, dropped again,
raised again, until the great and the small pass before me into my bucket.

I turn and tread the fire of the stars, exploded, scattered,
congealed, fired, cooled, pressed into stone, worn by the waters,
and left here for the moment. I pass from sunlight to shadow,
wearing a trail to the cabin, torn from the heart of living trees,
so long ago, an instant ago.

And at the high steps, I stumble, and bucket, water,
swallows, stone, river, and light,
all begin their journey again.

Thank you, my brother in chestal-region namesakes.

~signals barguy for one more beer for supperfluos freind~

You are correct!

By the way, there was a moon rise just around sunset out my window over here ~points east~ with pretty much exactly half-a-moon & perfect vertical axis orientation to my location on this planet, earth.

Kinda rare thing for me to have seen. Just gong from "memory" here. Maybe it happens all the time and just have not noticed, eh.

samtzu, you are possibly the most gifted writer I have ever read.

Not just the above, though that is your finest, for me, of your words combined so far.

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra made such pictures from words in Don Quijote, so I just KNOW ther must be others like you?!

yay!! Poetry night!! I concur...fantastic words, Sam. *sigh*

And the moon does that every cycle. Goes unnoticed cuz folks are still looking at the sunset - if they're looking at all.

What do we drink for poetry night???

Thank you Nipples. I appreciate that. However, there's an even better writer that used to hang out at the Mermaid Tavern many years ago, and he wrote some fairly decent stuff himself. Here's a bit of one of his plays... a scene I was allowed to do before hundreds of people every night one summer.... Ahhhhh! Heaven! If only I could write like this...

JAQUES
All the world's a stage, And all the men and women ... merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages.

At first the infant, Mewling ... and puking.... in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school.
And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow.
Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation ...Even in the cannon's mouth.

And then the justice, In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances; And so he plays his part.

The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank (... Who's shrunk?.... shut up, I'm acting here!);
and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound.

Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth,
sans eyes,
sans taste,
sans ... everything.

Thank you...

For poetry night I am going to share a piece I love a little philosophy and a little poetic....

Long did I lie in the dust of Egypt, slient and unaware of the seasons.
Then the sun gave me birth, and I rose and walked upon the banks of the nile.
Singing with the days and dreaming with the nights.
And now the sun treads upon me with a thousand feet that I may lie again in the dust of Egypt.
But behold a marvel and a riddle!
The very sun that gathered me cannot scatter me.
Still erect am I, and sure of foot do I walk upon the banks of the nile.

someone started this one earlier, and got me jonesing for it...as long as we're filching...( i do an excellent reading of this, btw )

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Anyways, an ex-gf (whom got me the job I'm at)
wanted to mix blood into a test of the stucco we are working with.

I read also that it and/or urine/beer have been used for the protein in them to strenthen such things.

So, she....

~slams rest of beer, signals for another to man wearing clean glasses and either a glazed donut and rug fibers on face for another~

....asked me if I thought that was a good idea, to test. The blood thing. That we have a bag of blood meal in the shed, and I said yeah, but that though I did not want to seem hoiler-than-though over stuff, if we found it was significantly stronger, would we be tempting ourselves into promoting the industry of .. ummm.. whatever the industry of making blood meal is.... would we want to promote that times ten houses or a thousand or a million if our tests showed blood superior to urine or beer (protein).

She made the test with a little bit from the garden-shed.

If protein indeed improves bond, let's just say the local liquor store guy volunteers to bring in his "homebrewing beer" book today when I bought a can of Fosters & a twleve of Labatts.

Yee-haw! I used 750 gallon of water today. In keg-terms, that'll be what, 750 divided by 16 equals.... ummm.. thank you sir may I have another!
