Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

I once went to a chamber music performance in Maui, and was all worried because my aunt and uncle & I were running late.dragonpilot wrote:Funny...Hawaiians use this same method...tamarakay wrote:Have you ever been to the Bahamas? They have a saying, you are on Bahama time now mon.
The musicians hadn't even show up by the time we got there.

Island time. Every Caribbean island has the same temporal vortex.dragonpilot wrote:Funny...Hawaiians use this same method...tamarakay wrote:Have you ever been to the Bahamas? They have a saying, you are on Bahama time now mon.
Coming from the NY/NJ area it's absolutely maddening for about 36 hours. Then the alcohol and saltwater kick in and it's spectacular.

I agree with this mostly, but insert the line: "drink water or something to hydrate with" between every line. Your first mention of water looks to fall about evening.uncle sticky wrote:Here's how you plan your Burn:
Wake up, mostly
Coffee with bourbon, maybe some captain crunch.
Another coffee, this time stronger.
Shit starts to spiral, put on something obnoxious, no underpants.
Get on your bike, or a passing art car.
Experience whatever the fuck happens.
Find your camp again, eat something, drink some water, drink some more, put on something obnoxious but warm.
Drink some more, shit starts to spiral, get on your bike with something blinky, maybe a passing art car.
Experience whatever the fuck happens.
Find your camp again, most likely at dawn, go to sleep for 2-4 hours.
Repeat until exodus.

That's because I make all my day drinks with vodka, diet squirt, and electrolyte mix.

Re: How do I plan? What happens when?
So per the OP, I had a lot of the same questions. burningman.com doesn't make it easy to find answers to those questions. Maybe it is still too far out from August. I don't have any plans FOR Burning Man, but WOULD like to know when to arrive. Good thread.

A participant driven event like burningman isn't going to easily conform to your ideas of tidy beginnings and endings. The llc may not make it easy to find answers. I suggest that it is because there is no-fucking-way to do it. I wonder how one could produce a survey of how many events in the what where when conform to the parameters printed therein.

I remember a few years ago I downloaded a google calendar with all the events at the burn from the WWW guide. It was so full of stuff (hundreds of events going on simultaneously) it was pretty much unusable.

Re: How do I plan? What happens when?
There will be a guide to events.
It will be wrong.
You will go to playa info.
There will be a random person sitting behind a table making up things.
They will be wrong.
You will find things anyway.

Playa Info is truly the hardest volunteer job on the playa, due to the relentless demands on creativity.
