hello from a lurker!
Hi Eplaya,
I've been lurking here for a while, reading and resarching How To Burn, and I thought I should introduce myself. I'm trjw (sorry, not very creative in that department). I live in Hamilton, ON (near Toronto). Some of my friends are burners and one of them has been trying to convince me to go for a while. She invited me to go with her and join her camp which supports a big fire art installation. When employed (I am not at the moment) I do electronics and industrial control systems which seems perfect for building propane-based fire art. I've also crewed big festivals and Scout camps, so while I'm sure nothing can prepare me for Burning Man I'm confident I can figure it out.
Deciding to go, reading and planning for my first burn, going to my local Decompression, and watching videos on Youtube has helped me get through some hard stuff in the past few months. (And that was actually the stuff that resulted in me feeling like I could go anyway. So.)
I got a ticket so I'll be coming as long as I can find a job so I can afford it. I'm expecting nothing but open to seeing amazing things. See y'all on the playa!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: hello from a lurker!
I'm already loving the parties and work days. So many good people. I've been amazed and inspired by some of the stuff people here are building just for their shelter - fully outfitted hexayurts, trucks, trailers, etc. I'll probaby be sleeping in a 2-person 4-season tent, but I will be putting a small monkey hut over it. I'm sure it will do for me just fine. And I thought I had some good blinky LED ideas but I see I'm only going to be one of many. I'll do them anyways, time and budget permitting. I'm hoping to light myself in style for night time.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Re: hello from a lurker!
I spent a good part of my first burn prep nervous that my outfits etc would not be up to par. Lots of wasted time worrying. It's really really really hard to some up with something that hasn't been done a few times at this little party. The great part is that it will be the first time YOU did it and therefore whatever it is just simply fabulous.
Just worry about getting your awesome self there and keeping true to the principles. You will rock it.
