Eplaya ReMeet and ReGreet

Post by Tiara » Wed Sep 10, 2003 1:16 pm

SF Decompression is set for October 12th!

Playa Dust camp has plans to return to Black Top City. R-pod will be making a return trip to the Black Rock Desert to haul "home" enough playa dust to annoint all who wish to feel the dust in their hair once more.

And we hope to re-construct our tri-tier dance floor nearby.

We'd like to invite eplayans to re-meet and re-greet each other at Playa Dust Camp during Decompression.

Let's plan to gather there at 4pm and/or at 8pm!

Every time I think about if I should go to decompression I see a post like this. I've gotta find a way to make it out there and a reasonable place to stay.

Tiara, where did you get those Garlic Olives you had in Center Camp on Sunday? I can't find them here in the Midwest...except in tiny, tiny bottles.

If you have a Whole Foods Market store in your city, try them. They have a killer selection of fancy olives, in bulk. I brought boatloads of them to B.Man this year to use as giveaway items.

There's just nothing like the gift of a salty, oily, kinda-spicy olive in the desert.

K,

I believe the olives in question were obtained at the gourmet mecca known as Costco. The other possibility would be Trader Joe's. I perform virtually all of my food acquisition at those fine establishments. . . leaves more room in my budget to squander on fuzzy and/or shiny fabric.

I'd love to meet with other Eplayans at SOUP-Stock in Austin, Oct. 9-13th at the Rec. Plantation (same place as FlipSide). I'll be there with a few from unVillage.

I'd be down to coordinate a Bay Area eplaya meet, say, around Christmas.

That is, if living in the Bay Area has become so hopelessly passe that nobody (except me) does it anymore....

my boy and i are hosting a winter solstice party on dec 21 ( sun night )
the theme: iron chef deserts. we'll have as many challenges as people want, plus i have challenged my friend bahman to a round of iron chef master chef: his liquid nitrogen ice cream against my cuisinart ice cream maker ice cream.

the liquid nitrogen alone will be worth it.

Arrgghh!

That one hurt. Okay, I give, I give! Here I thought we were having a friendly little conversation, and it turns out you were loaded for bear!

So do you actually make these decadent creations, or are you just an appreciative consumer of them like I am?

Yum! I'm not much of a sweet eater on a day-to-day basis, but do I like really good desserts. I'm particularly partial to creme brulee, and some tiramisu really does it for me.

I thought it was cute, myself! If it weren't so late I would try to come up with some kind of religion-related joke about Shiva or the lord giveth and the lord taketh away, but I'm a little too out of it at this point.

Cool! Your slumber party sounded like a lot of fun.

Are you going to Cocomo on the 12th? Sounds like it's shaping up to be a pretty good time, including a chance for the e-playa people to meet up. I only know a couple of people on here, and am looking forward to meeting everyone. It's amazing how quickly I can start to feel like I know people!

There's supposed to be a North Bay decompression party next weekend, which I'm hoping to make it to as well. I'll take all the playa vibes I can get!

just curious

I've noticed that a majority of e-playans are bay area locals, some from arizona, london,canada...It would be interesting to get a poll going on where people are physically located in the real world and how long they have been attending burning man. THis was my fifth year, I live in Oakland. Anyone else?

chick, I think you should start a separate thread for where are you from
if you expect to get a significant number of answers.

Tiara, thanks for the info. Of course guess who doesn't go to Costco.....
PJ mentioned the other place and they just opened a store in KC. That should tell you how far behind KC is from the rest of the world.

I'll see if they carry them...for some reason I got home and had a craving for 'em.

I met a fellow on a Washington State Ferry yesterday - I recognized the van covered in stickers. We BS'd about the burn, and agreed last years was better.
