I received this HUGE stiff tulle, 3 tiered underskirt htat goes under a wedding gown. This thing cam make any gown look like a small air balloon! I have a few idea, but this would make one heck of a tutu!

I would dye it a pretty color... or wear it under a skirt and go with the air balloon look!!

RosieTahoe, I plan on taking the tiers apart, dye them (what type of dye do you use on tulle?) and maybe add lights to them. I need to figure out how to unstiffen them a bit too!

I'm pretty sure you can dye tulle with "regular" dye but only if it's made of nylon (which most tulle is I think). If it is made of polyester or some other weird synthetic you might have a problem. Does it still have a tag on it so you can tell? Also, I think you can add white vinegar to the dye bath to help get a more even color if it's nylon. I don't know how you soften tulle, can you even? I would probably try washing or steaming it, because that can't hurt anything!

This is probably obvious, so I'm saying this generally, but tulle should be hand-washed. Don't put a tutu in the washer or dryer . . . [/ramble]

I've been working on my new playa coat. The bottom half is coming together. Now I have to decorate the sleeves, front panels and the collar. I might even put some tiny bit of fur on it. The colors are vibrant in person.

Ratty--this thread has made my whole Burn! I have the week off and was feeling uninspired until I read this and started rummaging through my donate pile and voila! I now have all kinds of outfits. I took this crazy princess tutu/bustle thing that was way too tight and cut it, attached it to an underused belt, and now I have the best thing for tutu tuesday and a white party and whatever! And it's much more comfortable. I then took a too tight tank top and cut the back and learned how to use this grommet tool I've had and now I have a sweet embellished tank! I used bleach to decorate an old dress and a top.
