The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

At first I thought you meant lift as in make it taller and thought it would be hard enought o get you in it already, then it clicked on what you meant. One of those Doh! moments...theCryptofishist wrote:Add a lift to that, and I'm in...

Yeah, I thought 40 feet of ramp would be a bit silly.

well, glad this is supposed to be the coolest day of the week..........we gotta go to Coloma and "hopefully" finish the restoration job there today....happily, the "historic curator" seems to have finally agreed with my initial suggestion, of adjusting hole shapes to accommodate newly reproduced sections, that turned out to not be as "exact" as suggested.
At first, she was trying to have us re-arrange the stones to make the old pattern work...............I was just flabberghasted. We did that one day, which of course didn't work, so put them back as before. Each weighing several hundred lbs, it's not just "pick this up and put it there and try it, ok?" stuff......hahaha, though, in the "book/academic world it probably should have worked that way. Great gal, this curator, just more of a "historian" than a real world "builder"......so, we have to discuss much.
Hope to hear soon that Moon is ok.............

Moonie made it out of surgery ok. He texted me last night and was pretty exhausted. I'm going to try and go see him either later today or tomorrow depending on how he's feeling...

Thanks for the Moonie update, 420. When you see him, give him a gentle hug for me. Good luck today, YG. I have my Tutu at the ready to join you and MDF in the happy dance.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
I am not going to the burn this year.
I am going to Peru though. I am volunteering in a small village outside of Cuzco. I will be working in an after school program doing art therapy with children and teaching English in the grade school. I am super excited! Unfortunately I can't afford time nor money to do both this year. I am very sad. I am missing out 2 years in a row now. I hope every has plenty of fun thou. I will be there in heart and spirit. I am sure I'll be glued to the computer with the live feed like I was last year. haha.

Re: The Bar, Volume #4
The way my girlfriend and I like to think of it, if you've been to the playa enough times and took the right things away from the experience, you bring the playa with you wherever you go. We've had a few gap years of our own, and while we missed the playa we wouldn't trade the adventures we went on for anything.
Thanks for the info on Moonrise, glad to hear he's through the operation. I got shocking news this morning that another burner friend of mine is going in for open heart surgery tomorrow, the poor guy. He's been plagued by various health issues over the years, I hope this procedure is because they've discovered a root cause and are fixing it, and not a sign that his health has taken a slide.

Sounds like a great adventure, Tinkerbell! Bring warm clothes. Good thoughts for your friend, Trilo. I can speak from first hand experience that heart surgery can be a very positive life changer. Beautiful vision MA.

Hi Tinkerbell, What you are doing is a very good way of burning. No party atmosphere or meeting with playa freinds, and that is something that any of us would miss, but even if the art you see is small I think it will be great. And so will the rewards and satisfaction in what you are doing.
Hi 420, It was cool when I got here this morning and it will be cool when I get off of work. Sending positive waves to Moon also!
Good mornin' marty good to see ya.
Hi yg - I am doing well. Putting in some OT so I can get a couple of fishing poles and licenses. maybe on some weekends I can park the house by a stream or lake and relax a little.
