hugging
My Dad is the silent type , he dont drink or smoke , has no vice's . In the past we have never hugged or said I love ya , but last few years Ive said fuck it and I tell him I love him. He says he loves me back , and I gave him a hug awhile back, and he hugged back ( amazed ) My sister said " look there hugging " I said yes but we hate it "
Dad and sis laughed .

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: hugging
I've learned that when you love someone just tell them. I'm going to try and paraphrase something someone told me recently. Love is having the ability and willingness to let the ones that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without insisting that they satisfy you. And the act of loving in itself, without expectations is a wonderful, beautiful thing. I grew up in a big, loving Sicilian family. We told each other I love you and hugs were never ending! I cannot imagine not giving/getting hugs, or telling someone I love them. And another thing I've learned, is that you don't have to say I love you all the time to that one person in your life that you do love. There's this understanding. It's innate.tatonka wrote:Sry for your loss , my mom went early with alzheimersmsj2u wrote:tatonka.

So tatonka, be aware that if/when we meet, be ready for a big hug! You too MSJ!

Re: hugging
good job, and thanks for sharing, tatonka.
It's especially cool, that as a rough, tough guy, you can share this. I think it really helps others with hangups about it, realize it's ok
proud to know ya.

Re: hugging
Good work
In our Italian family hugs are the norm. I don't know if that makes them worth less than your hard fought awkward hug, but they still fell good. It's more awkward if you aren't in the mood and try to skip the mandatory greeting or leaving hug.
Cheers
