Wow, these are very educational and definitely worth watching!Kinetik V wrote:These clips are some of the best ones you can watch so here's a repost to give them a bit more attention. BBadger's whole post is 100% truth.
BBadger wrote:That is one of the most perpetuated myths regarding law enforcement, undercover or not. Law enforcement can lie to you in any setting, including during interrogation.A-RockLeFrench wrote:Anyone know if there's any merit to the claim that if you point blank ask whoever is propositioning you "are you a cop/undercover agent/working with the cops?" that it is illegal for them to lie to you?
What is illegal is for you to lie to a cop. However, what is not illegal is for you to not say anything at all to the cop besides what you are legally obligated to (e.g. providing your ID when asked).
The only place a cop is obligated to tell the truth is when providing evidence or giving testimony in a court of law. Likewise, a court of law is the only place you should be divulging any information with regard to your case or any other, and even then only when specifically required to under advice of a lawyer.
As posted many other times (part two is a cop describing what cops can do and why you should not say anything):

Re: Police Using Entrapment
Might I share another undercover cop story?
At Electric Daisy Carnival in 2010, A friend of mine was approached by a college aged female who was looking to score some ecstasy (which my friend was obviously on). She did not look like a cop. She was our age, flirtatious, beautiful, really just casually hanging out with everyone and it isnt uncommon for people at raves to inquire if anyone has any extra pills. He was aware that undercover cops were present but since she was incredibly adorable, was very far removed from the profile of a cop, and his empathetic nature was amplified by the drugs he was on, he agreed to give her some. Excitedly, she said, "Great! Let me just grab my friend and we will take it! Thank you so much!"
.........
(can you see where this is going?)
..........
She retrieved her male friend who was standing by and my buddy foolishly decided to hand them the pill anyway. As quick as a viper can strike, his wrists were snatched by handcuffs from this new male character as soon as the pill was presented. The whole scenario was very quick and the now identified undercover cop led him away from our group. The girl disappeared. By a miracle my friend somehow managed to drop the rest of his supply while being led away without the officer noticing, ridding of evidence. Dont remember his exact punishment but he evaded some major charges by not having anything further stashed on his person.
Anyway if there is one thing I can learn from this experience its that undercover cops will use ANY tactics they can to nail you. They took advantage of the environment by using a flirtatious and attractive female to prospect victims. Follow this simple rule: if you dont know the person and dont have an established history of them, assume they are a cop.

If someone just has to be stupid enough to carry substances on them, never, ever, ever offer them to anybody you don't intimately know in the Real World. The cops have been going longer than you, they have better costumes than you, you Will Not Spot Them. Doesn't matter how hot the chicky is, "don't do the crime if you ain't got the time", and no matter what you think of the laws, it is illegal.

You didn't say what your or her age was.
She blatantly gave away that she was a cop, or more likely working for them, when she asked a stranger to commit an illegal act.
Double dumbassery for carrying drugs he didn't need with him.

At the time I was 24 and she was hovering somewhere around there. As much as it seems like a blatant give away, that behavior is fairly common at stand alone raves from bonafide drugless candy kids. I can easily be prospected at random for the stuff two dozen times in a night. Regardless, carrying excess drugs on you is not a great idea and an even worse idea is to make it known that you have them.gyre wrote:You didn't say what your or her age was.

I'm glad it wasn't any worse.
I had a fake art car ask me for drugs on the playa.
I know someone that went to another town at the request of narcs to, basically, turn himself in, since they had no authority to arrest him anywhere else.

Don't take pills in the open on the playa, period. Especially, don't give them to other people in the open.
Dissolve that stuff into water or another beverage and sip away, to all appearances hydrating as any sane and sober BRC resident would.

It was a furry golf cart.
Guy wanted to trade rides for drugs.
No question about him.
Ran into someone else towing a small trailer and giving rides.
He kept asking people for drugs while riding around.
Got fed up and parked by a loud camp, said he was going to go get drunk and left the rig with everyone on it.
Said "Fuck this".

Re: Police Using Entrapment
anyone asking you about drugs is either working for the cops or very stupid...however if you are clean it can be entertaining to give them a hug "No, but thanks for asking (hug)" - freaks them out every time

Police etc can get tags to be out there.
I'm told there are some police that have done the full mv thing to blend in.
As you say, you can always spot them when they want to share, trade, buy or sell drugs.
I tell them there are drugs in reno, which is quite true.
They love being reminded though.

As you say, probably anywhere from Sacramento around too.
Judging from Spearboy, sacramento is all go anyway.

Not even close. As the event's gotten larger, they pull more & more from further jurisdictions - and they're from county sheriff's dept's, not police departments. There are plenty of officers to cover the surrounding cities.TT120 wrote:With seemingly every LEO within 300 miles at BM

Back home here, we've got a local guy who does this with his bicycle/trailer.gyre wrote:...Ran into someone else towing a small trailer and giving rides.

He's not a cop, but he does end up talking with them frequently.

He's barred from pickup/delivering from the old-folks-home.

Everyone knows of the DEA,but there are 2 more to watch out for 1) NTF-Narcotics Task Force, that is a county team made,2) BNE-Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, that is a state run unit(they specifically look for law enforcement officers who look like teenagers....hint 21 Jump Street).Remember you have the right to remain silent, most people just don't use it.

The thing to take from all this is that if you're going to do drugs other than alcohol, you need to behave like we're back in high school. Be alert. Guard your inner circle. Trust only known friends you've known before the gates open. Assume that any other encounter regarding any drug activity is with drug enforcement. Radical inclusion on this issue will have to wait until it's finally legalized.
