Any letterboxers coming to Burning Man?
Letterboxing is an international treasure hunt, where you find hidden boxes with unique handcarved stamps in them that you stamp in your passport. There are tens of thousands of letterboxes hidden all over the US and the rest of the planet.
My virgin year (2009) I hosted a workshop about letterboxing and how to carve your own rubberstamp. My campmates thought it was stupid, but they were a bunch of virgin-hatin' old curmudgeons.
Lots of people came and it was really fun.
The following summer I got an email entitled "I Love You" from someone who came to the workshop.
She wrote "My name is Special, and I met you at the LB event you hosted at BM.
I am so hooked and have been the "mad" letterboxer, finding and planting.
I want to thank you so much for introducing me to this amazing hobby."
That year I camped with Special and the rest of her camp, and they've been my playa family ever since. There have always been letterboxes hidden around our camp.
This year we will be theme camping: Grandma Frum's Painful Candy and Drip Coffee.
Special and I will be hosting a letterboxing/stamp carving workshop together on Wednesday from 2-4PM.
Whether you're a seasoned letterboxer or just curious, you're invited!

Can Geocachers come too?
Or will we just show up accidentally because we're looking for something in the camp next door?

Janet, just wondering where I can find the coordinates to the letterboxes(and geocaches for that matter) that are going to be hidden at BM?
Will they be posted somewhere?
AND.....I don't suppose a phone will work there so I guess I will be resorting to the old standby....Magellan Gold!
Thanks!

So the theme this year is like a giant camp out in the desert? With people bringing lots of shit from all over? uh.. -Marscrumbs
