That Facebook page...
There are some complete tools on the BM Facebook page and group.
Since FB is bringing in new functions what do you reckon about our chances of getting the dumbest people RFID tagged linked to an exclusion zone put up 100kms around Gerlach?
What is so wrong with people that they can't READ, use Google, or use common sense.
Ranty rant, rant, rant, mcranty pants today

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder how much longer it will go on before collapsing on itself. (Note: that might not even mean the event comes to an end, but that blah blah blah, idon'tlikethesepeople, whateverhappenedtotherightannoyingvaluesthatwehad...)
I want some chocolate. And nothing I've heard about the main facebook page makes we want to spend time there.

And that, sir, is why I don't "get" some people.CornMan wrote:I think that facebook page is big fun.
I'm all for snark - but clueless people - or people that do not understand irony - - should just be taken out, and, well, shot.
Re: That Facebook page...
OK, well I just took another look, and it's not nearly as funny as it was a few days ago.

It's non-stop trolling. I guess it's funny for a while, but then it just gets lame/sad.

Personally, I've got more patience for clueless newbies than I do cranky ranters, to be quite honest. If you don't like something or it bothers and annoys you, stop giving it your time and energy. Don't give it more by engaging with them and/or taking the time to go elsewhere and start discussions about how much they annoy you. Seems like such a waste of time.

I left that group. Snark is better as a seasoning than as a main course.
Some of our fuckos here are fine chefs, others can't boil water, but it is easier to sort out that which I do and do not want to read here than on FB.

Are you referring to the group of 20k or so? Or do you mean the official BM fan page?AntiM wrote:I left that group. Snark is better as a seasoning than as a main course.

What does it take to get booted from the fb page? If it sounds like fun, I'll give it a shot.

Not the page... the group, which isn't affiliated with the page.

The Burning Man page/group is currently a nice place to visit if you have a little time. I do like how eplaya has always been Burning Man chat site central, and maybe it's not that good to spread out the places for info and chat.

Re: That Facebook page...
Yes that Facebook page... I am member of multiple BM FB groups. The big one, 27,000 is pretty bad as far as content. It has changed since last year where many of the regulars were banned (including myself) from the group by a power starved admin. Since his ousting about a month ago, I am back in the group and I will say the content is fairly weak and borderline annoying.
There is another group, Burning Man Project, which was formed by ousted members of the 'other' group. It is about 700 strong and we are fairly tight knit, many have become friends IRL, we have a M & G on the playa, and have a great mixture of humor, creativity, snark, and information. Check it out.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheBurningManProject/
BTW, I have seen comments a number of people in the FB groups about e-playa. Some feel the same way about e-playa as some here feel about FB. Me personally, like to go both ways.
E-playa is much more structured and useful. To many of the n00b posts looking for information, I tend to post links to e-playa sections or b-man site.

Is he really gone as an admin... And one of his socks in no longer a secondary admin?

YEP, he is GONE!!! I think he is inactive on facebook now. Current admins are definitely NOT HIM. Ginger and Watkiss are the admins and not socks.9ah wrote:fresh wrote:Yes that Facebook page... Re: That Facebook page...
I agree with you on this one CornMan!!! It was not like this in the past where there was a group of regulars that had some cohesion. Now it is really random and the regulars are more trolls than contributors. Not much creative content. That is why BuMP group is so much better. Less, but better, content.... Click on the FB logo below my avatar to see =======>CornMan wrote:There is no pecking order on the fb page. It's as if everybody just met each other.
Just as an example of participation and community, i felt the urge to buy a press and make custom buttons for last years M&G with everyone's profile pics. 9ah got hers!!!!
