Feeling oh so pawnish this morning, just doing what the eyes bid.

Hadn't expected to awaken to such a subservient state, but there you go. It is undeniable. Goathead's simple question has made everything so clear.

I'd go back to bed and tuck the damned eyes back inward, but there's just so damned much to see out here.

Morning Antim, Goathead, Delle and anyone else alive in here, I'm not sure why you are but I have an inkling why I am.

After a relatively sleepless night of running recipes through my head I finally decided to get up and scour some cookbooks for more ideas. I have an interview tomorrow part of which includes a mystery basket (ala Chopped) in which I need to create an app, a protein and a starch for the interview panel of five. One would think being asked to do what you've been doing for the last year and a half wouldn't be so stressful........one would be wrong (although in fairness I generally I do know what my ingredient will be before I start cooking or atleast try to ).

Best laid plans I'm shooting for polenta "fries" w/tomato jam as the app, a roulade of some yet to be discovered meat (hopefully poultry) stuffed with spinach, roasted garlic and feta w/pan gravy, a mushroom risotto of some sort (I'm hoping for faro, orzo or oatmeal in the basket). To that I'll be adding roasted caramelized asparagus (just salt and parmesan) and a chopped salad of shredded cabbage (red and white), carrot, shallot, cuke, turnip, celery, jalapeno, (everything up to the celery individually salted and seeped for 1/2 hour) simply dressed with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. But obviously this will change based on the basket.

The good thing is I'm finding the mental exercise I'm going through on the meal is keeping me from thinking about the stress of the interview (I'm fine one-on-one, not so much with public speaking in a Spanish Inquisition style setting).

Anyway, tonight I'm heading into the East Village for a screening of Spark and I'm off on Friday which when I will be either a day of celebration or one massive wound-licking session.

Oh, that reminds me, if anyone needs coordinates or whatever for mapping the route to the Hof, ping me.
Though all are welcome, I was advised not to just put the location/address "in the open". I think that advice was probably very wise. I know the person giving it is.

We got a ton of rain (well, a ton for June) the last couple of days, great for fire season, and it'll be really really nice at the Hof party, since it'll have settled the dust, cleaned everything nicely, and diminished fire concerns in general.

I was pretty proud of my old truck, drove that 2K miles, mostly 70 ish MPH, and it got 19-20 mpg.
not bad for an F250, 4x4 extra cab, long bed, 7.3L diesel and auto trans.

HA! I must have been tired last night, I was checking emails and suddenly woke up at 1 am, just sitting in my chair,head bent forward. I could hardly open my eyes or move, to get to bed......dang this getting old and weak stuff.

I haven't made myself known here for a post or two (or three), but I felt like wishing everyone a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Friday night- dinner with friends again this week (yay!)
Saturday night - 4th date with a new interesting lady! She and I have hit it off pretty well so far.....you know that wonderful feeling when you know you have half a chance with being with someone? I got it last Saturday. I was driving her home after dinner, and she was sitting right next to me in the pickup. We're both over 50, you know? I looked at her and very hesitatingly asked a question:

"You think we've got a chance being together in the long term?" (oops, I thought....here it comes....I've put myself on the line again)

"The jury's still out."

Time for quick thinking.......so I said:
"Anyway we can sequester those clowns?"

She snuggled closer.

Things are looking up.

it was filmed by several, I'm just hoping to get a copy...........and, well, one side was catholic and devout xtian, the other not........I note most of the laughter from the latter stated side.......but plenty of glares and "crossing themselves" from the catholics.........

haha at a a point, I was standing with the grooms father, and a couple of the groomsmen. One produced a nice bottle of whiskey. Not thinking that most of the seated guests could see me, I took a large draught as the bottle was passed.
oh......the expressions on some of the crowds faces was priceless.........BBWWHAAHAHAA

and then, just as the ceremony was to begin, I had a quick "give and take" with the DJ:

DJ, walks up with microphone, as big as an ice cream cone, while I'm holding notes:
"here, hold this close to your mouth while you speak"

me:
"fuck you" if you want it used, you hold it"

DJ:
well, people need to hear you"

me: " I can speak pretty loud and clear, so..........unless you can clip something on, no"

DJ: "but, you need to"

me" "fuck off"

DF, looking down: oh......this is on"........

I look up, again, to a half horrified, half hysterical laughter, crowd.
