good day all.
i have searched far and wide about parking options in reno (driving my car to reno, picking up the box truck there). i am aware of the obvious options - the airport, pay parking lots, etc. i am hoping to find a more cost-effective solution (read, free). (i have searched google and eplaya to no avail).
-does anyone know if reno's neighborhood streets require permits? or have the 'can't park for more than 3 days' rule?
also willing to trade haul space in the box truck for a spot. not sure what else to offer up in exchange, but could work something out if you happen to have a parking space available.
thank you.

My first pick would be one of the casino parking lots.
Lots of traffic and security cameras.

If you stay with them on the way in and out... Remember, there's going to be a lot of people in town for the Rib Cook Off. You wouldn't want the hotel to have no idea who you are and why your car's in their lot and have it impounded.

Be careful with assumptions! A lot of the casinos have 5-day tow rules. Any vehicle that doesn't move for 5 days gets towed.
HOWEVER! If you ask first you can usually get special permission, provided you're staying at the hotel before or after the burn, preferably both. I was able to get permission for the Sands Regency (great, burn friendly hotel with discounts for burners and a pool to boot) to park a car during this year's burn since two people in our camp need to be back in LA Tuesday morning while most of us are spending Monday night in the hotel to begin decompressing.

What Fishy said. Consider staying on your way in/out (if you haven't already booked plans), and get on the phone and give the hotel you're considering a call. Be nice (they're doing you a favor), and let 'em know you'd be happy to park out of the way (so as not to take up the closest spot for a week).
I've never done anything like that myself, but my experience has been that the people of Reno, and most local businesses are awesome and helpful. Good luck!
[edited to add, just realized the thread's location, nudging it over to transportation since that's a better fit]
