Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
I pulled the site up just now and it worked for me. I can't believe the prices of everything!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.
Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
The upscale ones aren't posted on the web.

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
That fire had to have left burn scars. It raged for at least 30 minutes before the fire rangers showed up to put it out. The tires burned right into the playa. They were exploding one by one and kept freaking out the models as they tried to maintain their composure. Sent them all running and screaming a couple of times, great "performance art".

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
It is so strange that this "fire" has recently been brought up, as I arrived on-scene just after the fire was put out, and my stepsister and me did a lot of mooping the site. I really didn't think too much about it at the time, other than the people involved were being kind of dickheads about the entire thing.
"How the hell do tires burn without an accelerant?" you ask? It's called fire. Fire is hot. Makes stuff burn.

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
Don't see anything close to the tires to burn that hot.
Always possible, i just don't usually see tires catch without a lot of fuel around them.
Like diesel, they probably burn well after they get going.
It just looks like a set fire, but no photos of the start.
Those tires look very fully engulfed, no pattern to the fire there, no hot spots at the top.
Just one picture though.
Did you see signs of a lot of fuel for the fire?

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
if i could i would like to offer up an apology, and try to tone the rhetoric down a little.
i just now read where trilo asked us not to copy paste links go on a mob rampage etc etc. concerning the re=cent dustup over that website that will remain unmentioned (gold pasties) and the imagery and use of logos/names etc to push product
very expensive product.
but thats not the point.
i went overboard on my kruggification and im sorry.
chain of events....i saw website in its original form in all of its glory, started researching and found links between a questionable fire and photoshoot that resulted in a big mess on playa, and the photo being used as a Cover Photo for said above collection.
what i did and posted was my own opinion and is by no means anything else but my opinion.
i also was in a bad mood and am having tooth issues but thats not an excuse either, i played vigilante and i shouldnt have.
it was a bad example.
sorry fellow burners for being a douche and my apologies for getting carried away.
it is a choice whether we purchase or not purchase someones art or photos or $250,000 art car, it is america and a free market.
so, please stop the lynch mob, i will delete my facebook venom...
now MAKE SOME ART goddamit, this is a distraction.

Fuck guilt. Mr Simon(s) is the only regular ePlaya commenter with first hand experience running large sound camps (that don't play dubstep...). Their version of plug and play is plugging the mixer into the drive rack (amps-speakers). That's A-OK. Mr Simon has also been an activist in the persistent challenge of large sound camp MOOP. ePlaya resource on big camps, Esplanade-2-10 camps, sound camps, MOOP and stuff.

I don't think you need to apologize Simon. I don't feel what you did was bad or wrong. They are mooping assholes making money off our home. That is never ok.

Shit, while we're pulling out biblical quotes:

Emphasis on the first half. The second half is just to say that this is sanctioned work, and that God has their back.

This may change some of the sneakier marketing, in the highly unlikely event that the ftc does their job.
May affect the Krug type stuff and worse.

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
I would love to see some transparency on turnkey camps, and those who provide RVs and other shelters pre-set up .... how do we know who has the proper vendor pass and has paid the 3% blood fee to BLM? Who is sliding in under the radar, abusing their department/camp EA? Because if I'm going to purchase my experience, this matters.

I don't like them. I don't think it's true participation. Surviving the playa by your own wits and invention is part of the fun.

Do "turn key" camps get placed by placement and if so are they considered a theme camp?

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
So is a turn key camp open to the public then? As I understand it, all theme camps must have open access to at leas a part of their camp. Sorry if this has been answered in the last 23 pages, I have a little project planed and was just curious.

Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping
Placed theme camps must be interactive. I don't know what that means in terms of theme camps.
