Was driving down the road and saw a sign that said Dress Barn - Women.
But they acted really weird when I went in and asked them where I could find the Dress Barn - Men.

Nope - I visited there for a month in 1975 but was never a permanent resident and actually haven't been back since.

Actually, what Doc meant was Stockholm.

So funny...last year I took my nerd-looking newbies to BM Boutique...they came out the other side like nerd-looking Burners...Savannah wrote:. . . or visit one of the costume camps, if you pass one, or see one listed in the What/When/Wear guide you'll receive at Greeter's, just past Gate.DerangedGoose wrote:I think Ill just go for both, honestly. The combo can be had for under 100 bucks and will give me versatility in my options. Plus I can probably use the full boots for paintball
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

I think I dressed those guys at Kostume Kult. Did they come down the runway in plaid? Did they think those skirts looked like Scottish kilts? Did they really think those hats made them look a part of the Burner community? (I'm just sayin.) I have so much fun at Kostume Kult. Anybody can come help if they feel so inclined. Bring scissors, safety pins, box cutter, shoelaces and a huge imagination.

Not Playa FASHION, let's call it STYLE
The local Goodwill outlet (where everything is 29¢/lb) always has lots of fabulosity, stuff too weird to sell in the normal Goodwill. At that price you can also afford to buy normal stuff and hack it; if you don't like it you're only out a dime.
When I find something good and truly bizarre and it's not my size I buy it anyway. Every year I bring a bag of stylish goodies and offer them at our camp or take it to Reno Housewives; they always have a little boutique going on and welcome stylish 29¢/lb offerings.
Last year I ended up wearing long-sleeved, mid-calf length grandma nightgowns a lot out there, especially in the afternoon heat. Loose and flowy, reflective white, easy to bike in, frumpy enough so scare off douchebags.
I live in the desert year-round so I'm serious about sun protection.

I make the top portion of t-shirts into stylish little capes with fringe or fur trim. These I hand out to obvious sunburn victims. They never turn one down.

Head coverings
I've been inspired by RobbieDobbs sunbonnets for years. Maybe this year I'll slap one together. My $20 cowboy hat is starting to rot.
Speaking of headwear, nothing keeps the dust off your hair like toddler pants! If you sew the ankles shut you can stash lightweight stuff in the legs.

Re: Toddler Pants On Yer Head
You can also stuff the legs so they stand straight up for a more decorative, less functional look.
