You should probably list what you're bringing, from where, etc.

You have to be 18 if you are coming without a parent or a guardian. Please read the information on the main website. Please do a little more than beg.

Ella, one of the features that make the Burning Man Art Festival so worthwhile, is that everyone commits to being highly self-reliant.

So now that you have heard of the event and think you may want to participate, your first step is to read all the First-Timer information on the web site – including reading the Survival Guide twice.

Then consider what your participation will consist of – your art, and how you will handle camping. "Art" is a flexible term here, but nobody just hangs around being spectators.

If you find that you may be able to contribute art and services -- participate in camp art projects, set up tents, prepare food -- to an existing camp, then you might introduce yourself on this board and participate in various discussions here. Thru this process you may very well end up with an existing camp.

Or, possibly, I’m wasting my breath. Please prove me wrong.

I'm giving this a nudge over to the 2013 Theme Camps board, since that's a better fit for 'seeking camp' threads.

The best advice I can give is to start being radically self reliant and take some initiative. Look around, do a tiny bit of reading or research, there are tons of camps out there. Many posting on the theme camps board, and many more on the recently published partial list of registered camps. Find something that interests you, and reach out to them and ask if they're taking new members. See the How To Join A Camp thread, and you may also care to read the How To Start A Camp thread (you don't need to read every post, just the first few contain a ton of great useful info).

Show your future campmates your awesomeness by taking some initiative. Don't take this the wrong way, but nothing says 'lacks intiative' like a seeking camp thread. Lots and lots of camps are out there, and many of them are not only open to new members, but are happy to take new folks under their wing. Get out there and find something (or create your own if you like), there's still plenty of time to connect with an awesome bunch of people for the adventure. Good luck!
