She didn't create the drama - she had a badly phrased post, which she cleared up shortly after when she realized it from the negative responses. It's not her fault the thread got ugly - if you look at page one, people were already answering her real question and getting the thread on track - the "making it ugly" part came from us, the regulars, not her, when people decided to attack her (and RV campers in general) because... Burns. And I'm not specifically referencing anyone, multiple people on the thread fell into it. Her responses stayed pretty damn cool during the worst of it, and I've been talking to her in PMs & she seems like a genuinely nice person, and she's been going to regionals for a while - it may be her first year at the big burn, but she's no sparkle pony.

Besides, treating ignorance (a badly phrased question) and malice (an actual intent to cause harm) as the same thing seems a little unforgiving to me.

On another note, a heartfelt thank-you to Shambala for saving me from posting something that may have caused too much grief and fallout among the people here I'm attached to. I won't go into details, and it wasn't meant to be taken seriously or reflect my own true feelings, but I'm glad I never got to see what could've come from it.

If there's any loss of face from my original remark, then I have to admit it. Someone else can't say, well, Fishy's actually sorry, she told me so. Doesn't cut it.
If someone asks me in a pm, and that's how they want it it's different. I also send pms when I've been really outrageous, so that the other person knows it's in fun, and I offer up saying it on the board.

That's a good way to approach apologies, after all, if you're actually remorseful, you should at least put that minimal level of effort into communicating it.

I also try to make sure I apologize before it "passes away" without meaning, but leaving a sore spot. A belated apology is kind of like asking if someone needs help when they're nearly done working on something.
