Placement notification - Camp Tasty Bits!

Post by DrYes » Tue Jul 09, 2013 3:18 pm

Just got it, and Camp Tasty Bits is approved! (First time organizing a camp, and I was a bit nervous that we'd not get approved for whatever reason.)

Happy happy joy joy!

Congrats! Tell us about your camp, and where people can find you (if you care to share).

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

We're Camp Tasty Bits, a first-time camp composed mainly of veteran burners from a couple different camps. 7:15 & H. Look for the large wooden tree out front with gifts hanging from it: The Stimulus Tree, stimulating the gift economy!

We're making a few thousand necklaces of blown glass and CNC'd fobs hanging on a large tree, with each necklace padlacked to a hole in a branch of the tree. I'm the camp organizer, but the Tree project is led by another camp member. Last year, there were some possibly over-complicated plans around quests and whatnot, but it really turned into a large take-a-gift, leave-a-gift kind of thing, seeded by about a thousand blown-glass necklaces we made. We had to haul away a lot of junk, but I really enjoyed seeing what people left. It was interesting. Everything from a couple of US dollars to birth control to survival gear (goggles, dustmaks), to poetry to food to ornamentation to notes to us, and so on. Was such a great time interacting with people who came by the Tree.
