Hi Danielle!

I dimly remembered that a search window was on the Theme Camps page, but had never tried it. Check it out.

Main site --> Theme Camps link --> 2013 Theme Camps (far right margin) --> enter "climbing" into the search, & got this:
Fucking Unicorn Camp
We’re a feisty crew of mono-horned beasties who frolic about, night and day, delivering rainbows and whimsy to our fellow Black Rock City citizens. Come ride our Disco-corn, monkey about on our climbing structure, join us as we cruise the playa on the Imagination Machine, or sit back and gaze at our LED rainbow while aerialists dazzle you with their magical feats and sweet beats caress your aural canals.

Enter "climb" instead and you get TWELVE results! (I'm not going to post them, in an attempt to get you to try it out :D ). By mid-July, many of those camps will be able to tell you their approximate addresses if you email them or visit their websites.

. . . Hell yeah. I'll be playing with keywords for a while.

YUP 12 results with climb regarding fences, getting up on platforms, social climbing, and used figuratively... I have searched the boards thanks (hence my reference to Catmandu - which looks awesome). ANd Id love to bring my own wall- but Im coming from the Southeast and still trying to figure out getting a tent out there.. so you may need to settle for chalk and gear, geesh folks. is eplaya for questions or for razzing newbies? LOVE, D

I've seen a lot of people climbing art structures too, but that might be too easy compared to rock climbing. Make sure to heed any "NO CLIMBING" signs that the artists may have posted.

I was 100% sincere (although no, I didn't read those 12 posts to vet them for you) and I'll bet you five bucks Trilo would be stoked to see your climbing wall in 2014. Seriously. We're not holding out on you. Welcome to ePlaya! :)

Climbing is fun! Bring your shoes and a pad in case you find something. :coffee:

Trust me, as a fellow climber you are going to LOVE climbing stuff out there. That was something that surprised me a lot, almost all the art/structures are climbable!!! I never actually came across any climbing walls (they are out there, but it's just luck whether you stumble across them), and I think I'd probably leave my shoes at home, but you will definitely get to climb a lot out there :)

The climbing wall my friend sought out and we visited had climbing shoes in all different sizes available to use. My friend was really stoked to find it, and brought his own climbing shoes because he didn't have them the previous year he found a wall. For me, it was cool trying one of those walls for the first time.

That's far less true than you think. In fact, people climbing on stuff that's not designed to be climbable is kind of a problem at Burning Man. A few artists have had their masterpieces destroyed by assholes who climbed on their stuff. Please take a few minutes to walk around an installation and look for 'no climbing' signs, and if something doesn't look like it's ruggedized and made for an easy climb, please be respectful and DO NOT CLIMB ON IT.

Why don't you build and bring a climbing wall yourself? :coffee:

Ive climbed most of the tall stuff every time at brc for 7 burns. Anything that isnt rugged will blow down in the 50 MPH winds. Any large structure thats rugged should support a few hundred pounds. Ive seen assholes yelling at people for climbing stuff that is clearly climbable and 15 minutes later is covered with climbers. Unless it is clearly marked "no climbing" or clearly will break under your weight, you are radically expressing yourself, participating and not being a spectator by climbing it. I would advise climbers over 200 pounds to be very careful. Don't climb with people directly under you. The Man is guarded 24 hours a day against climbers. Probably The Temple is too.
Anyone taking offence at anything in my posts - tough. It's only an internet forum. Stop being overly sensitive. you are shallow and banal. Eplayans who spend hours a day posting need to make in person friends and mentally masturbate less.

Ah, you're one of *those* guys. If only you were correct, and there weren't several significant art pieces trashed each year by several hundred pounds of jerk feeling radically self-entitled to climb something he didn't spend months to build.
