Questions about Pacific Northwest route to BRC!

Hello! This will be the first year that we take our RV to Burning Man, and I am wondering if anyone has taken the route mentioned on the Burning Man site. There are quite a few points where it mentions steep hills and such. We have trouble going up hills and are worried it might just be too much on poor ol' Polly. Please let me know! I dont want to have to add 500 extra K to take the I5 and 80 there, but I might just!

Unfortunately the easiest route Route 58 has construction with complete night closure and big lines for one way traffic of burners who did not know.

Any way you go off I5 Ashland-Klamath Falls, Medford-Klamath Falls, Albany-Bend, Salem-Bend, Portland-Madras and even Portland-The Dalles-Bend has hills You can see the details on Google Earth.

I would suggest I5-Portland-Route 26-Madras, on to Klamath Falls, Cedarville-Gerlach. There is a hill and curves between Cedarville and Gerlach, but no backup if you don't go into Gerlach itself, so fill with gas in Alturas or Cedarville.

Going through Lakeview, a smaller town is nice, because you can stop at Summer Lake hot springs.

I think if you map 80, you will find it as hilly. That route will be very congested. You can do detailed elevations in Google Earth.

Ah, yes. This affected my trip last year, too. We took Rt 26 instead of traveling further south to take Rt 58 from Eugene, but I seem to remember there being half a dozen 20-minute stops anyway. Taking the different route seemed to add an hour or two to our trip. I'd better ask my co-pilot if my perception was correct, however.

I note that the complete night closures are only on certain days.

Lane restrictions and nighttime closures at the OR 58: Salt Creek Tunnel are now underway, as the project begins its second season.

Until mid-October, 2013 motorists should plan for the following impacts to traffic:

Nighttime highway closures
Monday-Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Open to a single lane of travel weekdays
Monday-Thursday from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Open to a single lane of travel, day and night on weekends
Friday at 6 a.m. until Monday at 8 p.m.
Other travel impacts:
Pilot cars will escort motorists
Expect 20 minute delays
Oakridge will always be open for business from the west
Crescent Lake and Willamette Pass will always be open for business from the east
