Just lice and crabs, but they can easily be prevented by avoiding drum circles .

We've got sun spiders here where I live.... Creepy little things but harmless. Put one in a jar once to show my kids and it put on some impressive bravado - rearing back on its hind legs and lunging at the glass. Whenever we find them we try to 'catch and release' since they're good at eating the 'bad bugs'. The end. Story over.

The only bugs I've seen were brought in by some folks who camped near Paisley, Oregon the night before arriving...somehow they got trapped in their camping trailer and swarmed out when the trailer door was opened...too funny!

I've always felt kinda pity on the rare bugs I've seen out there (moths, spiders, rolly pollies...), minding its own business in some storage unit/basement/garage, then bundled up with the gear, and a day or three later dumped on the playa...

Out on the edge, we have been visited by dragonflies from the surrounding hills and springs, probably winging in to grab those luckless stowaways.

I've seen a few bugs during the setup process (pre-event). Mostly dragonflies, and occasionally one of these has turned up...

There are some black bugs that live in the ground there.
They seem harmless and unhappy to be disturbed.
Shy.

As for all the dangerous stuff, just remember that they are more afraid of you than you are of them.
You know, like bears.

I've seen flies, dragonflies, a mantis and a bunch of gnats. The flies and gnats happened in 2010 the first night I was there.. But it also rained too. I think all of em tho came in hitching with campers and RVs.

I"ve had great luck with those "bug bombs" in trailers/campers. open everything you can, leave any wall opening open and set one off and leave closed.

My friend had ants in his new trailer, which he discovered too close to his trip to eradicate through chemical means.

A week on the playa killed them off.

Sometimes by Friday or Saturday there are a few flys. I think they come with the poop pumpers.

My camp mate found a scorpion in her tent. We think it hitched a ride in from tink from Arizona. We named it moop.
